Hiccup's POV:
"................"
"G......in......... th..."
"Do y.............be........."
".......can't stop...........danger."
".......need to leave.......Berk."
A flood of voices surround me and my body feels like it's underwater. I let out a groan as my head feels heavy. It's then I realise I'm lying down.
"L-Lily." I grimace at how coarse my voice sounds. There's a collection of gasps, followed by the scuttle of feet. Even with my eyes shut, I sense several pairs of eyes on me.
"He's waking up!"
"Not so loud, meathead."
Groaning again, my eyes begin to flutter open and the blinding light stings. I raise a hand in front of my face to block it as I come round, just as a large figure hovers over me. "Hiccup...? Son, can you hear me?"
"D-dad?" I reply, squinting as my vision clears. The sight of my dad's face brought a sense of immense relief, and, with a little difficulty, I begin raising my head up off the pillow.
"Easy there, Hiccup." My dad says, placing a hand onto my shoulder, dwarfing it with his chunky fingers. "Easy. Try not to move so much." I feel his hand leave my shoulder for his fingers to graze through my hair. I lean into the touch, his warmth comforting as his hand rests at the back of head.
Suddenly, the memories all come flooding back.
My eyes blow wide open. "Lily-Rae!" I sit up in a panic, only to groan as my side suddenly throbs. Everyone crowds around me, panicked, but I ignore them as I try climbing out of bed. The hand leaves the back of my head to gently press down on my shoulder. "Son, please lie back down." My dad pleads, keeping me in place.
I shake my head, blocking out the pain in my side. "N-no. No, I need...I need to-"
"It'd be wise to listen to your father, young Hiccup. Your body is still weak. Any attempts such as sitting up is putting unnecessary amounts of strain on you."
That voice.
"W-who's that-" I begin before I'm suddenly cut off by an eruption of coughs. I raise my hand to cover my mouth and I didn't notice the small bowl being offered to me until the rim lightly taps the back of my hand. Without a word, I hurriedly take ahold of it before gulping down its contents. My throat instantly cools from the cold, refreshing water, and I pull the empty bowl away with a blissful sigh.
"Thanks." I say, grateful for the drink and I go to pass the bowl back to its offerer...until I see who it was.
"You!?"
Standing stoic, King Tatilus looks at me from the side. "The removal of magic from one's body can be quite...unpleasant. Fatal, even." His gaze sharpens. "You should consider yourself very lucky to be alive."
I bite down on my bottom lip, his words hitting me hard - but so do the recall of events of mine and my friends' capture, and the revelation of Lily-Rae's possession from that crazy, evil witch. "I thought..that I could help her." I say out loud. "I thought I could get through to her. I...I've screwed everything up."
