<19> Those Who Miss Dae-geun
In-gyu, who visited Laos with Lee, was completely devastated. He thinks they were attacked while walking after dinner and talking about the world of stars. He had lost consciousness for a moment and then woke up immediately. However, Lee did not move with his face buried on the ground. He did not breathe even though no major abnormalities were found in his body. In-gyu had been performing artificial respiration for a long time and expected him to come back to life. But it was in vain.
In-gyu, who was sweating profusely and trying to revive him, was suddenly seized with fear. He thought he could not safe if a burglar or beast attacked them. In-gyu, so scared, ran toward the village. Then, he explained the situation to the villagers by mixing English with gestures.
His body should not be left in the forest because it could become corrupt at night or be damaged by animals. In-gyu led local police officer and villagers back to where he was lying. The scene of the accident was not far from the village, but it was difficult to find because it was pitch-dark everywhere.
They managed to locate the scene by lighting the torch and flash, and he was still lying in a bemused look. His face, identified by a torch, looked peaceful and even had a slight smile. The villagers tried to revive him, which was still warm, by rubbing his body, but it was useless.
No major injuries were found in his body, but there were some signs of bleeding in the head. As the body cooled down, the villagers concluded that he had died completely. In-gyu looked around the site shining a torch and found signs of the grass being crushed. Lee's backpack was found soon, but there was no sign of being searched. What ever happened?
The policeman headed for the village with his body on a stretcher, saying he would visit the scene again the next morning to conduct a thorough investigation. In-gyu called Salaban's trader, Mr. Kim, to explain the situation and asked him to contact Liaobien Village and Hidden Valley Club in Korea. He also asked Kim to look for a hospital in Salaban and an emergency vehicle to transport the body there. When dawn breaks, he must return to the scene of the accident with policemen, and respond to police investigation at the same time.
It was past midnight after In-gyu finished the emergency handling of the accident. The villagers all returned home and the police stripped Lee's clothes and examined every corner of his body in the village hospital. The village soon became silent, and only a small office where a police officer worked was busy cleaning up the murder case. In-gyu, who remained alone at one side of the policeman's office, finally realized that Lee had left this world. While staying close, they used to stay close and talk about his life together or seek to escape from reality. But at one moment, incredible things happened. How can things turn into such a completely different phase so quickly! He was so bitter about the fact that he could not return to the situation a few hours ago when Lee was alive.
No matter how many times he thought about it, he couldn't understand what had happened at the moment. It wasn't a very dangerous place and there wasn't a sound from around. But who attacked? Lee is not a person who will end his life in vain. It was hard to understand that the man, who was careful in everything and stronger than the average person, could not resist properly and crossed the threshold of death.
The police officer assumed it was a robbery, but In-gyu disagreed. He felt no sign of anyone around him at the time, and found no sign of searching through Lee's pocket or backpack. Was it an attack by a fierce beast? If the beast had attacked us suddenly, we would have been stuck. But we would have heard a roar and both should have been badly hurt. It is certainly not an attack by a big beast.
Did someone plan terrorism and attack him to disrupt our business? If he disappears, our coffee business is likely to go bankrupt. The method of attacking him is as precise as the assassination of a top sniper of an intelligence agency. However, the business we are pushing for does not cause much harm to anyone or damage to competitors. No one will chase us to this remote place and try to assassinate us. So who did this?
