<32> War Exercise

Trainees participating in the war exercises were given a new numerical name representing one's own belonging. As I joined last, I belong to the 10th team, and am called DST1015. Our team is composed of 15 members from DST1001 to DST1015. I have tried to establish a defensive strategy by leading my team members who lack thought and experience. First of all, I asked their opinions to estimate the extent of damage caused by the invasion and to find ways to deal with it.

"It is said that aliens have infiltrated the Bora area and spread deadly harmful substances. What area is it?"

"The Bora area belongs to Hamel State and is a food supply base near the equator. It's a very hot place, so there's no residents, and farm managers and workers are the only ones who live there."

"How big is the Bora area?"

"Look. Here's the map."

Hamel State is a long-standing country next to Jetty's homeland. On the map, Bora is located on the southern border of Hamel, about the same size as Hawaii island. If aliens infiltrate the area and spread harmful materials, food and soil will be polluted. To prevent such a situation, we must find the enemy's presence and surround it.

The lack of residents in the area helps to carry out the operation, but farm workers can be sacrificed. Many people died or were injured when an atomic bomb was dropped or a nuclear power plant accident occurred on Earth. Pregnant women gave birth to malformed babies and abnormalities in plants and animals occurred. No farming was possible and no fish could be eaten in the area. Such a situation can occur on this planet, so we must wipe out invaders while reducing air and water pollution.

"What would happen if the invaders spread harmful materials there?"

"The farm managers and workers could die and farmland would be contaminated."

"Foreigners may have already polluted the area and killed workers."

"There is a lot of food stored there. If planet people eat contaminated food, they can get a fatal disease. We have to stop that."

"How can we prevent that from happening?"

"We must completely encircle the area so that food doesn't spill out."

"It is easy to surround the area, but it seems difficult to rescue the hostages safely."

"We need to identify the invaders and know their purpose of penetration. If we don't get the scale of the invaders and their weapons system, our defenses will fail."

"There's a lot we have to deal with. Trainee 1015, don't just ask us and tell us what you think."

Each has freely commented and then finally asks my opinion. I thought that a defense strategy could be established by putting their opinions together. We must first set up strategic goals, then set up detailed plans, assign tasks to each member. They should also be armed with appropriate weapons and seek outside assistance if necessary. I have summed up the opinions of the members so far and presented my opinions.

"In your arguments, there is a way for us to proceed. Our goal is to isolate the invaders, prevent the spread of pollutants, rescue workers, and destroy attackers before they move to other areas. Let's make concrete plans to achieve this goal. First of all, we need to know what's going on in Bora region."

"Let's send a small unmanned aerial vehicle over the area that the invaders can't identify."

"It is difficult to monitor the movements of the enemy with the reconnaissance plane alone. We also need ground reconnaissance."
