<40> Guerrilla Warfare

As the declaration of war was imminent, I secretly moved the main forces of the 3rd combat brigade out of Antimon's control and changed locations from time to time. I also conducted special-purpose drills to hit various targets while flexibly adjusting the size of our troops. It is a drill for guerrilla warfare that penetrates enemy territory, attacks military units and key facilities, and quickly retreats. I divided the brigade's forces into small units and trained each unit to independently attack the target.

For guerrilla warfare, each unit must be familiar with geography above all. Antimon is a giant pentagon, but like a top, the upper part is rectangular and the lower part is a triangle. It is a bit like India among countries on Earth. The north faces the equator and the two allies, and the southern triangle is surrounded by the sea. The area is about 5 million square kilometers and there are many large and small lakes inland. There are two large lakes in the middle of inland, and the administrative capital of Antimon is in the middle of the long land separating the lakes. The capital city is the second largest, and is called 'Honjabyu.'

There are many islands in the lake and industrial facilities are located along the lake's coast. Antimon authorities linked several small islands scattered in the lake to create large artificial islands. The islands will have facilities that produce spacecraft and space exploration equipment, weapons and munitions, and military units that guard the facilities. A complex underground traffic network linking Honjabyu and artificial islands is evidence. The ground buildings will be home and amenities for the staff and workers.

Antimon's largest city is called 'Dondasan' and located 800 kilometers south of Honjabyu. It used to be the administrative and industrial city of Antimon and still has a population of 10 million. The city has long been the most important and colorful city on the planet Merion, but now it is only seen as one of the service industry hubs.

There is third city called 'Konwood', a thousand kilometers north of Honjabyu. Konwood is one of the food and timber industry centers that process agricultural and forest products harvested near the equator and supply them all over the country. Antimon's traffic network has been sprawling in all directions from the vertical axis connecting three big cities, Konwood-Honjabyu-Dondasan Line.

In order to increase the effectiveness of the guerrilla war, we must select attack timing and targets so that our enemy cannot predict our attack, and avoid enemy counterattacks through rapid strikes and retreats. Based on the results of the reconnaissance, I chose government agencies and military facilities in Honjabyu, Industry and Security Forces along the lakes, underground bases of lake cities, and transportation and communication networks as our targets. Those targets include the political, military and industrial backbone facilities of Antimon.

Antimon's main forces are two Northern Corps, which are currently at war with the Sumerion states. The 3rd Combat Brigade will carry out guerrilla warfare in the central region. The size of the enemy's regular forces against our guerrilla troops is three times that of our brigade, but the enemy forces including security guards and reserve forces are ten times larger than ours. Instead, Antimon's Central Corps and Security Guard defend a vast area from the north of Honjabyu to the south of Dondasan, so they cannot concentrate their forces on one area.

The commanders of Antimon forces will believe they destroyed the 3rd Combat Brigade. Because of this, they didn't notice the guerrilla troops infiltrating, and their internal security is very fragile. It's a great situation to stage a guerrilla war. Antimon authorities may mistake guerrillas as anti-government forces against the war with the Union. We must keep them so deluded. To achieve this, communication security is important. I encrypted the instructions and reports between the brigade headquarters and the four regiments in commercial form. Decryption of the code will look like a commodity transaction between the headquarters and branches of a company.
