<25> Precarious Earth Civilization

I visited the museum the next day and saw the human civilization chamber. There are human-made tools, equipment, and facilities on display. Planet people seem to be very interested in the everyday goods, industrial facilities, villages and urban forms, transportation, spacecraft and weapons of the human world. I wonder what tools and equipment are used and what social institutions are established on the planet.

Humans claim that high-tech weapons are the products of civilization or the fruit of the most advanced scientific technology, but planet people regard them as a means of self-abuse. Many wars in the human world and weapons of mass destruction developed by powerful nations are enough evidence to create the perception that humans are creatures capable of destroying space order.

Scientists have been sending radio waves containing messages of peace into space through the SETI project for decades, but what really happens in the human world is never peaceful. Even at this moment, conflicts between nations, religions, and races continue throughout the world, and Earth is covered with numerous military satellites. Planet people may even look at each country's space exploration activities as part of the war process. Jetty will also have that idea.

"Jetty, the materials displayed here emphasize too much of the war on Earth and make planet people hostile to humans. Human greed and brutality have been overemphasized."

"The history of mankind is marked by war. We can't understand why humans had to fight like that."

"You said that, a long time ago, your ancestors fought with each other, too."

"In the era of poverty, there were frequent disputes over food and goods. There are still conflicts over differences of opinions, but there is no war between individuals or states that attack and kill each other with deadly weapons."

"The time of war on Earth was short and peace lasted a long time."

"Disputes and looting to take over property and land are still occurring routinely."

Jetty has a good grasp of the human world. Newspapers and broadcasters report numerous incidents and accidents every day. They are mostly from economic greed. The tribal or inter-state war was mostly to take away land and property. War was a means of obtaining wealth and looting and plunder were soldiers' bait. Even now, criminal gangs accumulate wealth through violence, and powerful nations develop national power by exploiting weaker countries. It is the human world where competition, robbery, and deception have become common.

Planet people also criticize the religion of the human world. When people do something wrong, they feel a lot of anxiety and guilt, and many rely on religion as a way to dispel it. Therefore, people's anxiety and guilt are the soil in which religion can thrive. In fact, religion provided immunity to the sinners, and the believers regarded the costs involved in religious activities as an investment in entering heaven and exempt from crime.

In the human world, visionaries appeared to read people's minds who were anxious about the future and the afterlife, and created a cult of followers, which led to the creation of religion. Religious leaders expanded their congregation through stately rituals and touching sermon. Among them, religion that influenced many with logical and persuasive doctrines developed into a systemic religion and religion that did not persuade rational people was regarded as superstition.

However, the higher the level of human consciousness and civilization, the more critical the view of religious consciousness and doctrines has been. People began to turn away from religion when they realized that a flamboyant religious ceremony that shrank the freewill of humans was just a waste of resources. It has also been suggested that religious groups that give psychological immunity to the evil at the expense of money spread crime. A just society is not a religion-dominated society, but a society where citizens dedicate themselves to the community. It is expected that the trend of deviating from religion will accelerate as individuals enjoy material affluence, and human rights are guaranteed by the institution, and medical and scientific technology advances.
