"William how did you get here?" I asked as he frowned at me.
"I walked," he answered making me shake my head.
"No as in how did you get to my house?"
He sat himself down beside me before continuing.
"I live around the corner. Seems like you haven't seen me around here."
"No I haven't. Have you seen me around?"
"Yes," he stared at me with a blank look before pulling on a smile.
"So why are you sitting out here? Shouldn't you be inside doing your homework or deleting voice mails from Mrs Viola so your dad doesn't get it?"
I couldn't help but laugh at this.
"Actually I live with my uncle and he isn't home yet which is why I am here," I looked down at my phone in disappointment when I saw my uncle still hadn't replied.
William looked at me carefully before nodding slowly.
"Why not come to my place. My mum is home but she wouldn't mind," William stood up as he offered me a hand.
"I don't know if that's a good idea..." I said as I looked back down at my phone.
The problem was my uncle has done this before. He goes out and leaves me out here but that doesn't mean I get to go somewhere else.
He wants me to suffer. He wants to find me sitting on the doorstep.
One time I went and stayed in the library when my uncle wasn't home. That was my biggest mistake. My uncle beat me up so hard I ended up limping for weeks and almost overdosed on pain killers. I needed the medicine for my back pain and I guess I lost count of the amount I had.
"We won't murder you," I looked up at William to see him with a serious look on his face.
"Excuse me?"
"Thought I would mention it,"William said with a smirk.
"Why?"
"To catch your attention because you were drifting of and to ensure you because you looked scared of my invite."
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat.
"It's best if I stay here. My uncle doesn't delay much."
I lied.
My uncle sometimes took more than two hours to get home but he was always unpredictable.
Some days he would take a few minutes, some an hour and others over an hour.
It's just best not to take a risk and go anywhere.
"So your uncle is at work?" No
"Yes," I said sounding very uncertain.
"What is his profession?" William asked.
Coming up with the best ways to abuse me physically and emotionally.
Think April! Think!
"He works in a construction site?"
Another fact from me which sounds like a question.
This was getting seriously embarrassing and I just wanted my uncle to appear so this ends.
For the first time I wanted him here.
I looked at William expecting to see him laugh at my discomfort but he looked emotionless.
"What company is this?"
Oh my gosh!
This boy is going to be the death of me.
Make up a name April. It's either you do it now or your over!
"Tamponks." I instantly felt myself freeze. I didn't dare look at William as I kept my eyes focused on his black trainers.
"Tamponks?" I could already hear the humour in his voice. There was no way I was going to respond to it.
"April?"
I kept my head down as I heard him murmur something before squatting down in front of me.
"Just come stay at my place for a bit. I am sure your uncle wouldn't mind if you ju-"
"-he would. Look I appreciate you helping me out of detention but honestly you don't have to help me with everything. Please leave me alone," I managed to look at him to see sympathy in his eyes.
"April it is going to get seriously cold outside. You can't sit out here."
"It's fine I do it all-"
"-it's not okay!"
I rolled my eyes as I looked down at my phone.
Still no message from my uncle.
Just the friend request in the status bar.
"Let's just go April," William said sounding a bit desperate.
"I need to wait for my uncle. What part don't you understand?"
"The waiting part," he replied with a smirk making me feel slightly annoyed.
"Bingo!" William shouted making me look up at him in shock. "I have the best idea."
"What is it?"
"I have a younger brother who is currently home from school and he is always bored," he said with a big smile on his face.
"How does this affect me?"
"We can get him to come here and wait around your house and if he sees your uncle he can message us and we will rush back here."
I couldn't help but smile when I heard the plan but the smile dropped when I realised something.
"But how would your brother know how my uncle looks?"
William frowned a bit, "Do you have a picture of him?"
"Yes."
"Send it to me by Bluetooth." He sat himself back next to me as I sent the picture to him.
"Okay so I am sending it to him with your address and what to do."
"Wouldn't he get cold sitting out here?" I asked as I started to doubt this idea.
"No. He is coming in a car with some friends."
After a few minutes a white car parked outside my house and out came a boy and girl. They both looked nine years of age and wore black hood jackets.
I got up and went over to the car to see that the driver was older which made me feel confident again.
The last thing needed was a bunch of minors driving around London because of my scary ass uncle.
"So Nathan and Daniella meet April. April meet Nathan and Daniella."
I gave them a small smile. "Hey kids," I said and the girl frowned.
"We aren't that young!"
My eyes widened at her statement making William laugh.
"Okay your mission is to keep a look out for the target. If you see him you text us and distract him. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes." They both said before going to the car and retrieving binoculars.
"This would help us better!" Nathan said as he tested them out.
"Come on guys get out!" Daniella shouted and immediately four other small boys dressed in black came out.
"They are going to help with our distraction if one is needed," Daniella said sweetly as she went to talk to the boys.
William took my hand in his before pulling me away.
"Let's go now April!"
