[68] DISAPPOINTMENT

GAIL'S POV

"You're such a disappointment!!"

Napapikit ako sa mariin at pagalit na pagkakabigkas ni Daddy ng mga salitang iyon. Galit siya, alam ko 'yon. He never yelled at me like this before until now. Buong akala ko na siya ang matatakbuhan ko sa mga ganitong klaseng sitwasyon pero mali ako ng naisip. Dad is furious of what I did.

"... Ano bang pumasok sa isip mo para takasan si Travis sa airport at pumunta sa Palawan? For God's sake, Crystal, you were with his mom. Hindi ka ba nahiya?!"

My eyes fell on the floor as I controlled myself not to expel a sob.

"Dad, I'm sorry. Magsosorry nalang po ako----"

"You should have known it from the start!! Sorry? Pinag-alala mo kaming lahat dito sa Maynila habang ikaw naman ay nagpapakasaya sa kung saan ka man nagpunta??" He paused briefly, taking few steps toward me. "Si Lee ba ang rason kung bakit ka nagpunta dun?"

His voice became rigid yet still trying to be calm. My throat went dry that I couldn't utter a word. Gusto kong isigaw na 'Yes, it's him!' pero hindi ko magawa. Natatakot ako.

"Answer me!!"

Huminga muna ako ng malalim bago ko itinango ng dahan-dahan ang ulo ko. 

"Sh*t," he cursed that made my eyes water again. "Sabi ko na nga ba, hindi magandang ideya na bumalik ka pa dito," he thought aloud and stared straight me so I looked away. "If I'd knew it better, I wouldn't have let you work for the company or rather I would have fired that man!"

I rose up and met his angry gaze. I have to stop this before everything falls apart.

"Tama na, dad! Bakit ba ganyan nalang ang galit niyo kay Kurt?? Dahil ba sa ginawa niya sa akin noon? God, dad! Tapos na yun. Napatawad ko na siya. Why don't you forgive him too? He suffered too much. Don't you think it's enough?!"

Napahakbang ako ng paatras ng makita kong nag-igitng ang panga ni Daddy. I made him angrier now. But I can't just stay silent while he's whining about Kurt!

"Pinoprotektahan lang kita sa lalaking 'yon. He doesn't deserve you!"

My hands formed a fist on my both sides. I want to burst out but I don't think I can, now that I'm talking to my dad.

"Dad, please." Hindi ko na napigilan ang sarili ko na mapahikbi ng tuloy-tuloy. Nakatitig lang sa akin si Daddy, at alam kong napapawi na ang galit niya base sa kanyang mga mata. ".... I love him. I still do. Hayaan mo na kami."

I waited for him to speak but he did not. Kinuha ko na ang pagkakataong 'yon para lapitan siya at yakapin.

"God knows I fought myself not to fall for him again. Nahihirapan ako... Mahal ko si Kurt. Mahal na mahal..."

Tuloy-tuloy ng bumuhos ang luha ko, pero nabigla ako nang itulak ako dahan-dahan ni Daddy at tinalikuran ako. He seemed to think of something when he started pacing back and forth.

"No," he murmured. My jaw dropped questioningly. No what? 

"Daddy..." I called him out and then he stopped and turned to face me. 

"You can't be with Kurt. Nabibigla ka lang. Naguguluhan ka lang."

"Pero---"

"I'll have everything rushed about your wedding! Si Travis ang pakakasalan mo and that's final!" He shouted and pointed out his finger to me. "From now on, hindi ka lalabas ng bahay. Lalabas ka lang kapag kinakailangan. You understand?!"
