Everything in the large room caught his gaze. From the report he's read over twice, to the ink pen that fell on the floor and all the way to the windows and the stars outside. Like a child, he found all things amusing, even if it was a forceful gaze, he held it. Through all his stalling, and pointless thoughts, not once did he catch her gaze. The room felt chillier without the friendly chatter and cozy smiles.

The silence was deafening.

The almost 6 foot tall warlord uncomfortably made his way over to her and sat in front of his confused girlfriend.

As fast as the young woman's core was beating, it was surprising the warlord couldn't hear it. But he was too concerned on everything else. While she stresses over a conversation that has yet to happen, her boyfriend was thinking of a way out of said future conversation.

But really, there was no silence. Caught up in Nobunaga's beauty, she pondered on the thought of whether or not she was harming herself by being so anxious. Could I possibly have a heart attack if my heart is beating this hard? It hurts. Why does it hurt so bad to see him right now?

His breath was steady as he exhaled into the cold room, much unlike Y/n who was practically shaking with fear. Finally, he decided eye contact wouldn't hurt. But as soon as his crimson eyes caressed hers, the anxiety hit him like a galloping horse.

After blinking about a dozen times the Oda warlord realized he was still staring at her and as beautiful as she was, it hurt to see her fake smile so he forced his eyes anywhere else once more. Settling on one object, he decided to stare at the beautiful art on the celling.

The couple was within arms length, they could easily reach out and hug the other, kiss each other, start this conversation and give their aching hearts closure. Maybe that's what made it worse, just how close they were but... not close enough.

Unlike Y/n, Nobunaga was desperately still looking for his escape. He wasn't sure what details the upcoming conversation would hold, although he was the one who promised the talk between the two. All day, he was stuck pondering this conversation... but he hadn't pieced together everything he needed to say, or even begun to think of possible responses to the questions to whatever his lover was going to ask.

"I have something that will make this night more special. I shall return," before the princess could object, he was swiftly on his feet, walking right for the sliding doors, robe flowing in the air behind him.

All at once, their shared room felt chilly. Y/n held herself, protecting herself from the cold air.

"Ugh, you promised," whispering to herself, the troubled woman hit the floor with a lousy fist.

Feeling foolish for allowing him to leave, Y/n falls back into the soft blankets of her boyfriend's futon, closing her eyes and pretending she was on anther planet. Pretending like she had no troubles, no one to admire, no one to please except herself.

"Forget your plans. Meet me in my chambers tonight and we will talk. Your conflicting emotions are at war and it's visible to all who meet your eyes."

No matter how hard she tried, his low voice was still in her head, repeating lost lies of his. Once again, she was left alone, her heart on fire, melting away the love they once so strongly shared.

Between the two of them, communication was never their strong suit. As much as Y/n did for the relationship, their love felt like it was was fading. The feeling of loneliness crept up on them every night, biting them like a venomous spider. Both of them felt pain, deep wounds in their heart. Nobunaga came to understand he wasn't feeling as happy as he once did and it led him to wonder if Y/n's feelings were mutual.
