where could you be -
will began to worry when he parked outside of george's house and saw no cars. he waited there for a couple minutes before knocking on the door. school didn't start for another hour or so, but it was still strange that george wasn't out the door yet. when he finally heard someone on the other side of the door, it wasn't who he was quite expecting.
"oliver?"
"you should not be here." george's brother whispered.
will rose a brow. "i am here to pick george up, where is-"
"dad took him somewhere last night and they haven't returned." oliver said bluntly.
"oh?"
"you should go, will."
will parted his lips to protest but it was too late. "please leave will." both oliver and will turned to face george's mom.
"not trying to be rude ma'am, but i'm not moving me bum till i know where george is."
"you are no longer allowed to contact my son, william."
will glared at the elder women. "what?"
"george is in cleansing right now and the moment he gets back, he will be sent off to get help."
"w-what are you going on about?" will asked, getting a bit annoyed. "where is george?"
"go will, george will be fine." oliver whispered, his eyes showing something will had never seen on oliver;
emotion.
will looked back and forth between them, growing anxious. where is george? why is he cleansing? and what the fuck were they getting help for?
"you can't stop me from seeing him, lads." will said, his last words to her. with that, he stomped back to his car. he was tempted to look for george in ever damn church.
-
"will, what if they call the police?" stephan asked, peeking past his dark sunglasses.
"for parking a couple houses down?" will scoffed. "they can kiss my arse!"
stephan shook his head. "his parents have always been creepy but this is next level, innit?"
will didn't say anything. george was the only thing he could think about. he had convinced stephan to help him find out more about george's strange disappearance. he couldn't just continue on without any answers. he needed to see george and make sure that he was okay. and if that meant getting arrested, so be it.
"you should've seen the panic in that boy's eyes, ste."
"he's a middle schooler, will-"
"no, stephan, not oli. he's not like most kids his age. he's quiet and creepy, and bland. his eyes are always so dull, but not today. no, this time he seemed genuinely scared."
"hey, look at me idiot-" he forced will's chin. "everything is gonna be okay. don't worry."
"says you."
stephan sighed, it was helpless. will was beyond stubborn, especially when it came to peoples safety. and even if stephan thought will was overacting a bit, he would sit there with him- because it was all for george. hours passed, and the boys still sat there. waiting for george's arrival or for someone to leave the house. around 12, stephan's stomach let out a growl that caused will to finally take his eyes off the motionless home.
"you hungry?"
"guess so, it's way past lunch time."
will sighed, giving stephan a sincere smile. "let's go get you some crisps or something." and that was the first time that will left. he was hoping that in the period that he and stephan were gone, george would be back. but when they returned, there were still no cars in the driveway. yet, will refused to give in and just leave.
-
it was around 5:30 when will left to drop off stephan and 5:45 when they arrived at stephan's house. just as the ginger boy turned to open the door, he paused.
"will?"
"what?"
"look, i don't know how crazy george's parents are but please be careful. don't do anything too stupid, yeah?" stephan whispered.
will nodded, a hint of sadness in his tired eyes. the worrying was not doing him any good and stephan saw that. but he knew he couldn't get will away from that damn house. stephan knew will was heading back there, he just knew it.
"bye, you wanker."
"bye, ste."
the boys parted ways, will heading back to his spot. he was going to see george, even if it killed him.
