We arrived at Malone's Steakery at 10:15pm. Kind of late to be eating but I was starved and I could feel the liquor swishing back and forth in my stomach. Charles and I both ordered a t-bone steak dinner. They brought us our salads and a bread basket. I ate that salad and bread like I hadn't eaten in years. We easily laughed and talked like we had years ago when we first met. I felt a little bad that I had just spent the last two hours having sex with someone else. But I had to remember that I wasn't the only one who was still keeping secrets. He still hadn't told me the whole truth. Who was the woman he was with at the empty house? How many others had he been with like that while showing a house? I would probably never know.

We got home at 12:30am. I looked in on the kids and they were both surprisingly asleep. Charles was undressed by the time I got out of the shower. He was laying on the bed naked. "Come here." he said in his low I want to fuck you voice. I was so tired but I didn't want to deny him. So I came and stood in front of him. He sat up on the side of the bed and started kissing my stomach. He held my ass in his hands and gripped it hard. He smacked my cheek with his free hand. I moaned and begged him for more. He kept going. Then he stood up and picked me up. He walked backwards with me until we hit the wall. Then he was inside me. "You like making love to me don't you baby?" he breathed in my ear. He knew how much words turned me on. "Yes!" I answered him. "Fuck me!" I said. "Give it all to me." I told him. He started pushing in me harder and harder until he came. We both collapsed on the floor.

We must have fallen asleep there because the next time I moved it was when the alarm went off. One thing I was sure of: my life right now was not what I would describe as boring. Work went on as usual. I sat there thinking about all the things that had been going on in my life. I still just wanted Charles. I still just wanted to settle down and live a married woman's life. But I was curious about what he has been up to these days. He was definitely home more than he used to be and I should be okay with that...and I was, but still something was eating at me. "Eva..." I whispered into the phone. "Hey, girl why are you whispering?" "I'm at work." "They don't let you speak in a normal tone of voice?" She could always make me laugh. "I don't know why I'm whispering." I said.

"Well, what's up girl?" "I just wanted to see what's been up with you, we haven't talked in a few days." "Nothing much...Miles and I are taking a break." "Why, what happened?" I was truly shocked because they seemed to be doing so well together. "I saw him getting a little too cozy with one of his groupies backstage and when I asked him about it, he got mad. Then he told me maybe we should take a break." "Oh." "Oh? Is that all you got?" "Yeah, that's it. Nothing these men do surprises me anymore." "Well, what's up with you?" "Are you gonna be free later?" "Yes nothing else going on right now." "I'm coming over to your shop today, I'm leaving here at 4:00pm." "Okay, see you then."

4:00pm came and I left work. Every time I looked at Chris, all I could see was Cat and hear her voice telling me all the things about him that I didn't want to know. He lied to me about the kind of man he was to his wife probably like all men do. I didn't want to have the resentful feelings toward him like I did. He wasn't my husband, I had my own husband to deal with.

I wished she hadn't shared those details with me.

"Hey honey!" Eva said giving me a big, warm hug. She had a few customers so we went over to her wine bar and she poured me a glass of chardonnay. "Excuse me, do you have this in a size 6?" One of her customers asked. "Sure let me get it down for you." "Be right back." she said to me. "Okie dokie." I said sipping my wine. "These little girls make me sick!" she said when she came back. We both laughed. "So what's going on?" she asked me. "Where do I start?" "That much huh?" she smiled. "Okay, well first off, I was with Catalina yesterday." "What!?!" she half yelled and half asked. "Yeah I was." "How did that happen? I mean I thought it was just a one time deal!" "It was...it was...but I guess she was into me more than I knew. She texted me last weekend and said she wanted to see me again. We met at the same hotel, in the same room...and she gave it to me so good it was almost better than a man!" We laughed again. "Oooohhhh girl! You make it sound so good." "It was." "Are you planning on continuing to see her?" "I don't know, maybe, if she calls again."

"So it's up to her?" "No I'm not leaving it up to her, but I do like being with her." "Oh and by the way, she left her husband." "WHAT!" she said really yelling now. "Ssshhhhhh!" I said as her customers turned to look at us. "Why did she leave him because of you?" "No not because of me. She said it was a long time coming. She told me he cheated on her with her best friend before they were married." And she still married him." Eva said as more of a statement than a question. "Yes. The things we do for these men!" I said. "Hold on, I'll be right back." she said. There were a couple customers ready to ring out. Eva always the business woman.
