My day was going along fine until Charles burst through the door. He was upset and cursing. His shirt was soaked from sweating and he looked terrible. I told the receptionist that I didn't want to see him and to please ask him to leave. She said he was refusing her request so I told her to call security and have him escorted out of the building. He made such a huge fuss I thought he might get arrested. Jack and Charles came out to see what all the hoopla was about and I explained that my husband was drinking and not in his right state of mind. When they asked if I needed some time off I told them no, he would be fine. He just needed to sleep it off.

After worked I tried calling Zoe to see how she was but she didn't answer. Chris walked to the parking garage with me. He was telling me about a new potential client when suddenly Charles came out from behind a car parked near mine. He looked like he hadn't showered in days. I hardly ever saw him in jeans and tennis shoes and he needed a shave. "You didn't think it would be that easy to get rid of me did you?" he yelled at me. "Can you go away please? I don't want to see you right now." "I DON'T CARE!" he yelled louder. "Why wouldn't you answer my calls?" "You have a lot of nerve!" I yelled back. "Coming here like I'm doing something wrong? You motherfucker!" I screamed pounding his chest, my bags falling to the ground. He grabbed my arms to stop me from slamming my fist into his chest.

"Hold it! Hold it!" Chris said loudly. "Listen, I don't know what's going on here man, but I think you better leave." "She's MY wife!" Charles said grabbing my arm. "Let me go!" I yelled. "I don't want to get involved in your business..." Chris started. "Then DON'T!" Charles yelled. "If you don't leave I'll have to call the police and I don't think you want me to do that." "Where is Zoe?" Charles continued turning his focus to me. "Is she staying with you?" "Come on man, you're not helping yourself here!" Chris said standing between us. "No, she's not." "Well where the fuck is she then? I know you've been staying at the Hilton. "

My eyes got big and I tried to avoid Chris's glare as I saw him trying to put it together. "You don't know what the fuck you're talking about!" I yelled at him. "I saw the credit card statement. What did you order last night for $12.55? I would've come out there...but...who were you with? Some nigga?" he asked. "Who is he D? Who's your hotel buddy huh? Is this some kind of payback, some stupid ass revenge or something! What?"

I picked up my bags and opened my car door without answering him. "Don't leave here until you answer me!" Charles yelled again. I got in and closed the door. He and Chris stood there staring at me. I pulled out and left. A few minutes later Chris called my cell. "Hello?" "Hi Dina." "Chris I'm so sorry about that...thank you for your help." "No need to apologize I'm just glad you're okay. Listen, I really don't want to get in your business but what is going on?" "Uh, well the short story is I caught him cheating on me and I haven't been home since." "Do you know where your daughter is?" "Yes she was staying with a friend." "Okay well that's good then." "Alright well thanks again..." I said attempting to end the conversation. "I was wondering about what your husband said...that you were staying at the Hilton?" I sighed. "He's insane." I said for lack of something better to come up with. "Why would he say you were? Where would he get that idea from?" "I know the lawyer in you wants to pry right now but really he's crazy. If he's looking at credit card statements he probably saw his own Hilton stay on there." I lied. "Well, okay." he said. "See you tomorrow."

I felt like Chris had eyes in my car as I drove back to the Hilton. I felt bad knowing that I'd lied to him. He hadn't seen Catalina since she left him over a month ago. I know he wanted to know if I was with her there but he didn't want to ask me and I wasn't about to volunteer the information. When I got back to the room Cat was there having a drink as usual. "Hello sexy!" she sang. "Hello. You are never going to guess in a million years what happened to me today." I said. "What?" she asked pouring me a drink. "Charles showed up at my job twice. The second time he was waiting for me in the parking lot. He was yelling at me asking where I was and where Zoe was and why didn't I answer his calls. I sat down and took a big gulp of the brown liquor. "But then he said he knew I was staying here because he saw my credit card statement online. That stupid burger I ordered! He also said he would have come here but he thought I was staying with a guy." "If he only knew!" she laughed.

"Chris was there too. He broke it up." "What?!" she said. "Yes and he called me afterward asking me if I really was staying here. I told him no and that Charles was crazy and that it was probably his own statement. She sat down. "Do you think he bought what you said?" "He seemed to buy it." I told her. "I hope he did...I don't want him showing up here." "You hungry?" I asked her. "I could eat." "I know a nice little Italian restaurant that I think you would love." "Why because I'm Latina?" "No because they have good food." We both laughed. I called Eva to see if she was in the mood for some spaghetti. I wanted her to meet Cat. She said she would meet us there. So we drove in Cat's Jaguar to Lansing to a cozy little restaurant called Jorge's.
