Bert walks into the house from school, taking off his black leather jacket putting his keys on the table.
"I'm home mom" Bert calls for his mother, seeing her walk out with a smile, hugging her son to greet him home.
"Hey honey, go get ready, we're going over to Donna's and Bryan's for dinner tonight" Jenna smiles.
Bert smirks knowing that means he gets to see Gerard to himself before going upstairs, getting dressed.
"Come on honey!" Jenna calls and Bert goes downstairs, the two of them walking to Gerard's place, fence opened for them.
Knocking on the door, it's opened by Donna, hugging Jenna, the two of them walking off talking.
Bert sees Gerard walking downstairs, in a pretty white long sleeved shirt and black skinny jeans, oversized sweater, mascara and lip gloss on, per usual.
"It's nice to see you Gerard!" Jenna smiles hugging Gerard, being a very happy and loving person.
But Gerard just looks at Bert, cheeks heated up a light pink as he just examining Gerard's pretty outfit.
"Gerard! Come set the table!" They hear Bryan call and Gerard goes to the dining room, beginning to set everything.
Bert walks in, leaning against the wall watching Gerard set everything, noticing Gerard always chews his bottom lip, always in deep thought.
"I can feel you staring at me" Gerard says, feeling Bert's stares from behind him, making Bert chuckle.
"Can't help it" Bert says and Gerard turns around, a little flustered at his comment.
"Need any help?" Bert hears Jenna's voice say from behind, seeing her walk in, making Bert tense.
Gerard watches as Bert tenses, crossing his arms as he clears his throat, confusing Gerard.
"No ma'am, I've got it" Gerard smiles politely and Jenna nods, rubbing Bert's arm as she goes to walk out.
"Is everything okay Bert?" Gerard asks and Bert just nods, in thought of what his mom may think after seeing that Bert's constantly checking him out.
Dinner goes by smoothly, Bert watching Gerard's beautiful smile. Though Gerard's rarely not smiling, Bert never gets tired of seeing it, he's perfect.
Bert feels his phone buzz, a text from Gerard. ♡Gee♡ : Call tonight?
Bert just chuckles, winking at Gerard, meaning yes. Gerard bites his lip and tells them by, him and Jenna hugging.
"Here mom" Bert says helping his mom slide on her coat, wrapping an arm around her as they leave the warm home, into the cold.
"I love having dinner with them, Donna is so sweet. Gerard is such a lovely boy" Jenna says as they leave the yard.
"Yeah, he really is something else" Bert chuckles, softly smiling to himself as he thinks about Gerard.
Getting into their home, they get their jackets and shoes off, "Bert, come sit with me"
Bert sits next to his mother, "Baby, is there anything you want to tell me?"
"No? What would I need to tell you?" Bert chuckles nervously, afraid she's caught onto him.
She takes his hand, rubbing with her thumb, "You know I love you, no matter what, right? Even if you're gay"
Bert feels tears prick at his eyes and Jenna just hugs him, chuckling softly, "It's okay sugar"
"I'm sorry mom" Bert sniffles into her neck, feeling so bad. He doesn't want to disappoint his mother, she's all he has.
"It's okay baby, I love you no matter what, if you're happy, that's all that matters" Jenna says.
"I've known for a while, I've just been waiting until you're ready to come out" Jenna reassures him.
Bert looks up, trying his hardest not to cry in-front of his mom, "I love you, so so much"
"I love you too sugar, so much more" She smiles placing a kiss on his forehead, rubbing his arm.
Gerard sighs softly as Bert hasn't answered his text, they were supposed to call again tonight, but he hasn't answered.
Just as Gerard was going to go lay in his bed, he sees the light in Bert's room flip on and his phone rings.
"Hey, is everything okay?" Gerard asks answering, wanting to make sure he's okay.
"Yeah um- sorry I just had to take care of something" Bert says sniffling some, calmed though.
Gerard notices his voice sounding a bit nasally, obviously upset over whatever he was just doing.
"Come on, come outside" Gerard says hanging up, standing and goes downstairs, Donna and Bryan asleep.
Meeting up outside, Gerard and Bert begin walking down the street, "Do you want to talk about why you're upset?"
Bert sighs softly as they sit on the bench together, "I just um- I came out to my mom"
"You're gay? Bert why didn't you tell me?" Gerard asks, he figured if Bert was gay, he would have told him by now.
"I didn't want to make you uncomfortable, I mean, we spend a lot of time together, I didn't want it ruining anything" Bert says.
"You worry too much, what did your mom say? Is she mad?" Gerard asks, worried she's angry as he's upset.
"No, no, just the opposite" Bert softly chuckles, sniffling, "She's the one who asked me if I was"
"That's amazing Bert, why are you upset then?" Gerard asks, confused as that's an amazing thing.
"I'm not upset, I'm just really happy. But I mean, what if I disappoint her?" Bert says, making Gerard laugh softly.
Gerard takes his hand, "Bert, you're not going to disappoint her. She loves you, no matter what"
"I mean, I've had one-night-stands with men before, I always had to hide that I'm attracted to them" Bert says.
"Well, you don't have to hide it anymore" Gerard smiles, happy for him that he was accepted.
Bert smiles, feeling better about everything. He's finally out, no more being afraid his mom might catch on.
