Yn's POV
I walked downstairs and saw tons of people in the lobby of the district. It was a mix of people and cops. I walked over to Platt and saw Mouse already there. "Sergeant Platt, I need you to sign this form for Voight" I say. "Hold on a minute Ln" Platt replied and ushered me next to Mouse. Suddenly, Mouse was jerked violently away from my side and I turned around to find a man holding him in a headlock with a gun pointed to his head. I quickly drew my gun from my holster and held it up to him. "Are you going to listen to me now" he asked loudly.
"Drop the gun. Or else I'm going to shoot" I say, my eyes beginning to water. "Yn" Mouse said. "Don't try to talk me out of killing him Mouse. It's him or you. And you're one of my best friends. I'd drop his ass in a second." "Sir, whatever this is, we can work it out" Voight said. "I tried to do the right thing, but no one would listen! The cops in Iowa... the cops in Iowa, they laughed at it. They said my daughter ran away. I know my daughter. She didn't run away" he said.
"So you walk into a police district, pull a gun, and take a hostage? You can't expect to walk out of this" Voight said. "I don't. And I don't give a damn. I gave my daughter a credit card for emergencies. Now, someone here in Chicago used it last week. That means she's here. I know it. I know it" he said and tossed us a bag. "Everything's in there." "All right, good. Now you gotta release my guy" Voight said. "Find Sarah" the man argued. "That's not how it works" I say. "That's how it works today! Anybody makes a move, he dies!" "I'm cool. Everybody's cool" Mouse said. "Keep a bead on his forehead. He stops holding up his end of the bargain, you drill him. You understand" Voight told Sean. "No problem" Sean replied.
"Name's Jeff Frazier. He's 44, lives in Ankeny, Iowa. No criminal priors, no history of mental illness. Last July, his daughter, Sarah, disappeared. Three days later, they found her car in an Amtrak parking lot. No record of her ever buying a ticket" I say. "Boss, credit card story checks out. Three months of inactivity, then Sarah's card bought five flat-screen TVs in Little Village just last week" Adam said. "You two" Voight said and pointed to Adam and I. "Run with it."
Adam and I headed downstairs and out to his car. Then we drove off to our location. "We had a problem with shrinkage the last year, so we had this thing installed. Done the trick so far" the boss of the store said. "Pause right there" Adam said. The man paused the footage as we saw a man purchasing flat screens. "Transaction at 1:53 p.m., that's gotta be it. Who's behind the register?" "Randy! Come here" the boss shouted. "This guy" I say and point to the man on the screen. "Has he ever come in here before this?" "Nope" Randy replied.
"Your boss tells us you're supposed to require ID on any transaction over $100. This was over 3 grand" Adam said. "We were busy" Randy said. "So busy you followed him out to the parking lot?" "He needed help with the flat screens." "Hey, here's the deal, Randy. I can't save your job. What I can do is keep you out of Stateville for credit card fraud. Just tell me where we can find your boy" I say. After Randy gave us a location and a name, I sent them over to Al who was with Kevin.
After Al and Kevin gave us another location, we headed out and met Sean and Kim. "The car was parked here, a white 4Runner" Sean said and pointed to an empty part of the street. "There's only a hundred in the state, none registered to this block. No record of a break-in either. Someone doesn't call in a break-in or a stolen purse, sounds like someone doesn't want to deal with the cops" Adam said.
"Let's check the pods, knock on every door. If somebody gives off a bad vibe, we close in" I say. "Hey, does this look weird to you" Adam asked and gestured to a plant box. "It's dry as a bone. These are brand-new sprinkler heads." Adam lifted up the sprinklers to reveal a camera. "Is that a periscope" Kim asked. "Burgess, Roman, take the back" Adam said. "We've got the front."
Adam kicked down the door and we headed inside. The top and main floors were clear. We then headed into the basement where there was a weird metal door. I looked at everyone before opening it up. Inside, there were girls in cages. One of them stood up as we entered. "Don't hurt us" she said. So we called some ambulances which took the girls to the hospital.
"Patrol's on their way to Chicago Med with the girls right now" Kevin said. "They give you anything on Sarah" I ask. "Honestly, with all that dope pumped in 'em, they didn't remember their own names" Antonio said. "Asset Foreclosure says the place is owned by a Nevada shell company, operated by a Bahamian trust. Means it's gonna be days before we get the owner's name" Adam said. "Yeah. All right. Have a covert car sit on the house in case he comes back" Antonio said. "Okay. Got it" Kevin said.
Back at the district, we were able to get Mouse free from his captor and had learned some new information. "Three girls found in Humboldt Park were all lured to Chicago via this Romeo's Facebook page. Trevor Dunn, sometimes Crowhill or Donnelly. The accounts go dark once the girls disappear, but we pulled this photo from Julia's cloud storage" Antonio said. "No hits off NCIC or the DMV" Kevin said. "Sergeant Benson in New York says that Trevor is likely using these videos he shot as selling material to pimps that are looking for girl-next-door types for their organizations" Erin said.
"I took the photo we got from Julia, ran a reverse image search on it. Found an online dating profile using the same pic, so I accessed it" Adam said. We all gave him weird looks. "All right, I had the tech lab at Organized Crime do it. Anyway, I'm scrolling through his messages right now. Looks like he's picking up another girl, a Lacy Collins. Bought her a bus ticket. She gets into downtown on the 946 from St. Paul." "Hit it" Voight said.
Down at the bus station, we got Trevor and cornered him. "Trevor Dunn" Jay asked. "Nope" the man replied. "I'm gonna ask you one more time" Jay said and held a gun to his throat. "Trevor Dunn?" "Y... y... yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's me. That's me." "Where's Sarah Frazier" I ask. "I... I don't know, man. I swear to God." Jay then handcuffed Trevor. "That dungeon we found? It's a little slice of heaven compared to where you're going. Let's go."
After Voight spent a few minutes with Trevor, we got another name. 'Steven Ulrich. Priors for distribution, agg assault. Been linked to a few missing girls" Voight said. "Now Vice likes him for involuntary servitude and sex trafficking. He holds on to girls until they're worn out, then trades them to networks across the country" Antonio said. "Trevor says Ulrich is operating a brothel out of a club in Bridgeport" Voight said.
We drove to the club just as a girl stumbled out. Erin took her and the rest of us headed inside. A man intercepted us as we were making our way to the back of the building. "Chicago Police! Who are you" I ask. "That bitch... she shot me" he replied. "Where's Ulrich" Antonio asked. "He's out back." We headed out back and found a dead body on the floor. "It's Ulrich" Jay said. That's when I heard sobbing. "Help me! Help me!"
Adam and Jay pushed a dumpster to the side to reveal a girl. "It's okay" Al said and wrapped his jacket around her. "Sarah Frazier. Was she here" Al asked. "Ulrich... he was gonna dump us off somewhere. But Sarah, she grabbed his gun. She shot him" the girl said. "CTA just reported a female, white, late teens boarded an L train at Lake and Ashland with a handgun" Erin said. "Let's go" Jay said and tapped Antonio. A few members of the team manged to get Sarah and get her and her father reconnected.
"Hey" I say to Mouse as I put on my jacket. "I'm glad that you're okay. But I heard that there apparently weren't any bullets in the gun. I stared down the barrel of it and there were. What's the story there?" "The story is that there weren't any bullets" Mouse said and winked at me. "Anyways, Adam is busy tonight, so I was wondering if you wanted to go to Molly's. Drinks are on me" I say. Mouse laughed and stood us. "Free drinks? I'm in."
