A/N: I'm starting a new format so that it's the same as my Jay Halstead Fanfic.
Yn's POV
Sleeping these days was harder than I thought. Alvin would wake up multiple times during the night crying either because he was hungry or he wasn't tired. And being in quarantine was even harder. I hated not being able to see my friends from work. The good news was, my mother was quarantining with us, so I got to see her everyday. Adam and I decided to let her stay with us because when we were able to go back to work, which we had, we would need someone to take care of Al. Just then, I was awoken from my sleep as Al started crying again. I groaned and sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes as Adam stirred next to me.
"I'll get him," Adam mumbled sleepily.
"You got him last time. It's my turn," I tell him and climb out of bed. I made my way across the hall to Al's nursery where I found Al tossing and turning in his crib. I picked him up and cradled him in my arms, hoping that would calm him down, but it didn't, and he kept crying. I brought him over to the rocking chair we had set up and took a seat, rocking back and forth. I don't know how long it took for Al to calm down again, but by that time, I was so tired that I just slept in the rocking chair. The next day, it was time to get to work, and just as I was leaving, Al spit up all over my shirt. I didn't have time to change, so I just left it.
"Well, you look like hell," Jay said to me as I walked up the stairs and into the bullpen.
"Believe me, I know," I inform him and start wiping the spit up off of my shirt.
"Parenthood still kicking your asses?" Kim asked jokingly from her spot at her desk.
"Very much, but we'll get through it," Adam spoke.
"Not if Al keeps spitting up all over me. You got a spare shirt in your locker?" I ask.
"Yeah," Adam replied. "It's all yours."
"Great. Thank you," I tell him and head into the locker room. I opened Adam's locker and pulled out the spare flannel he had in there, and just as I was about to put it on, Adam entered the room. "Hey. What's up?" Instead of answering, Adam walked up to me and pressed his lips to mine. I smiled against his lips at the feeling of our chests pressed against each other. It had been awhile since we'd been able to kiss like this. When we finally pulled away from each other, I was out of breath. "What was that for?"
"I miss kissing my beautiful wife," Adam responded as I put the flannel on. "Don't get me wrong, I love Al with all of my heart, but he makes it so that we never get to spend time together."
"Well, you better get used to that, because that's going to happen for the rest of our lives," I explain. About an hour later, while Hailey and Jay were out patrolling, Voight was meeting with the new Superintendent, and Kevin, Kim, Adam, and I were lounging around the bullpen, I got a call from Jay that we had a new case, so all of us rushed to the scene.
"Okay, what do we got?" Voight asked.
"Jay and I heard the 'shots fired' call come over the radio, so we rushed to the scene. The little girl was bleeding out when we got here," Hailey answered.
"She got shot in the stomach. The good news is, the ambo got here quick," Jay added.
"What happened? Robbery, drive-by?" Kim questioned.
"Yeah, we don't know. She was walking with her parents, and then she got shot somehow. Unfortunately, they didn't see much. They heard two loud pops, and the next thing you know, their daughter's on the ground bleeding," Jay informed us.
"So stray bullet?" Adam suggested.
"Sounds like it," Jay spoke.
"All right, so start canvassing. Talk to witnesses, pull PODs, surveillance cameras. Find someone who saw something," Voight said. The team then split up, with Adam and I heading one way. I was currently talking to a woman who only spoke in Spanish while Adam stood a few feet away from me.
