I looked at Annie's monitor. The line laid flat and made a beeping noise,and I knew what that meant. I pressed the nurse button,my eyes flooding with tears. The nurse finally arrived after what seemed like forever. I started signing,but she didn't know sign language. Oh great. She called the head doctor and I described what had happened. The doctor put an oxygen mask on her. Everyone suddenly seemed super alert,and I was afraid that Annie would not survive. What had happened to her? It was the worst feeling ever,not knowing if your friend will survive or not. It all seemed like a very,very bad dream. Yet unfortunately it wasn't a dream. This,was real life with all its cruelty. It was what real life was like,one second,it wraps you in a good fortune,the other second it slaps you with reality. Somehow,I never got to see the nice side of life. As if my life itself was teasing me by swinging the life of my only friend on the end of a rope.

They told me that Annie was in a coma,and that she probably wouldn't recover. My sight got blurry as my eyes filled with tears. They pushed me out of the room,I heard the nervous orders of the head doc,and all the nurses quickly obeying the critical orders that would determine if Annie would live or not. All I could do was sob and stare at the blurry glass,when suddenly I felt someone holding my shoulder. I gasped with fear and turned around. Why had they come? What did they want of me? All the questions were flying inside my head,the answers uncertain...
