Tifani's POV
I am dragging my fucking suitcase down the stairs when I hear the front door open, I close my eyes, taking a deep breath when my back spams. Stevie and Karen are in the living room, staring at me... Karen immediately grabs my suitcase, letting it by the couch. "White Dove, what are you doing?" Stevie is now in front of me, trying to understand what is happening, when she reaches fr my arm I flinch. "Don't you dare to touch me right now!" I scream at her, now letting my bloodshot eyes stare at her face. When she tries to speak again I raise my hand and without taking my eyes out of her start talking. "Karen, can you please call Roy and ask him to come pick me up? I can't find the fucking keys to my car." She nods, her eyes lingering on us for a little too long before grabbing her phone and leaving the room.
"Tifani, I can explain it. No one knew he was going to do that." Her eyes are flooding in tears again, and it just makes me more angry. Why is she crying? It's not like she was just cheated on live television.
"If you can, so explain that to me. Because right now, I'm sure that I'm just a replacement for your perfect Lindsey! HE KISSED YOU IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE WORLD, STEVIE!" I'm yelling once again and don't even realize that I called her Stevie. It's the first time I call her that since we started dating, and she freezes where she is. "And you wanna know more? A relationship cannot happen if one of the people are still in love with someone else! I love you with all my heart, but like you and Vanessa said when performing 'The One', the right person is in your past, and I'm not him!" I'm crying and shaking uncontrollably and a wave of sickness runs through my body making me leave her mid argument to find the bathroom.
I'm sitting on the bathroom floor for over an hour. Stevie kept knocking on the door, trying to get me to open it.I just sat there quietly, humiliated and angry. I heard when Karen made Stevie go to our room, and now everything has been quiet for a while.
"Honey, it's Karen. Are you okay?" She whispers through the door, trying to comfort me. "I took Stevie to your room, and told her to stay there! You can open the door now." I slowly stand up and stare at my reflection. I look like death, my makeup is ruined, my hair is a mess, and I am as pale as a ghost. I open the door an run to Karen's arms, allowing myself to cry out everything.
"Oh Karen, it hurts so much! When I called my parents, they already knew because they were watching it." She was brushing my messy hair with her fingers. Not saying a word. "I'm never gonna be the one, right? I know she loves me, but I'm never gonna be Lindsey Buckingham." Karen doesn't say anything, she just stares deeply into my eyes and a hint of sadness can be seem. I know she agrees with me. "Let's get you to the couch, Tiff. I'm not letting you go until you've had something to eat." My legs wiggle, and I can hear Joni Mitchell blasting upstairs. I can't help but chuckle, realizing that everything I've built with Stevie is crumbling right around me, just like a sand castle.
I slowly open my eyes, not even remembering when I fell asleep. My stomach growls, and notice that my suitcase isn't where it was supposed to be. There's a mug of steamy tea on the coffee table, with a note.
"I had to go fix some media stuff, and I don't know what you're gonna do when you wake up, so I made you some tea, and Roy is outside waiting for your orders, he already has your suitcase.
I know you're hurt, but give yourself time to think about your relationship and your children Tiff. Stevie loves you, and so do I.
Don't be a stranger,
Be safe, and smart!
All my love, Karen."
I am in the kitchen washing my cup when I hear little paw steps followed by a cute whine I'e grown to love. "Hi baby girl. Don't you look comfy. Come here." I struggle a little to bend down and get Lily, my body already starting to feel the effects of all the stress. "Mommy loves you so much, you know that, right?" Her ears perk up, and she turns on my lap. My eyes meet Stevie's who was standing there for God knows how long. I stand up, walking towards her with Lily attached to me. "But now mommy is gonna go, Lily! You have to be good, okay?" The dog whines as I transfer her from my arms to Stevie's. She doesn't even try to say anything, and her empty eyes make me feel terrified. "Don't do anything stupid, any of you! Just have a great life." As I walk past her and towards the entrance, I can fel her eyes on my back, the burning pain almost too much for me to handle.
