Chapter 26 Protectors Of The Earth

It felt like I was in the Darklands all over again. As just as Claire and my dad came to rescue me, it was only myself that got away. Now was not the time to dwindle on the past though. "Now Douxie," I said.

And from his magic, he created a portal that was big enough for someone to jump through. Just as I was about to go in though after Toby, I felt a tug on my shoulder.

"I can't let you do this, Jim," Merlin said.

"Seriously? Not again," I said.

"Your fight is here with Morgouse. Not there saving Claire and your father. Leave that to your friends," he told me.

As much as I wanted to go with my friends, a part of me knew that he was right. "Jim?" Toby asked.

I turned to face him. "It's okay," I said. "You go and get Claire. Merlin and I will stop Morgouse."

"But-"

"Please Tobes," I said.

He eventually listened to me. The next thing I knew was that everyone except for Merlin, Angor, Numora and I were gone. "Any idea where she could be?" I asked him.

"Most likely in the town square," Merlin said. "Unleashing her army and reviving her sister-"

"We must stop her before she does that," I said.

"Agreed," Numora said.

"I must admit that a fight would do some good to this world again," Angor added.

I looked at Merlin again. "Merlin, could you take us there in a portal?" I asked.

"You're looking at the wizard who forged Daylight himself. What makes you doubt power-"

"Merlin, I only have time for the chi chi. Not the textbook," I said.

"Then yes, is to answer your question."

Then like Douxie, he used his Staff of Avalon to create a swirling green portal that made my hair blow a little bit and Numora's clothes sway. "What are we waiting for?" Angor said. He was the first to jump in. Then I went in before Numora and Merlin.

Landing in the town square of Arcadia, I soon noticed how Gum Gums were roaming the whole town just like they had in the battle with Gunmar. People were running around trying to get to safety. Cars were already overturned and on their sides. I summoned Midnight only to have someone laugh at me from above.

"Oh Trollhunter. I'm so glad you made it." I looked up. And there in her silver armour was Morgouse. I glared at her, Merlin next to me with Numora and Angor already trying to defend everyone else from the Gum Gums and Goblins.

"Protectors of the Earth!" She said. "Just in time to meet an old friend."

I did not like the sound of that. Unlike me, when I saw her, I was more horrified than irritated. "Ugh, does she ever die?" Merlin asked.

Morgana laughed next to her sister. "I can say the same, you old fool," she said. Because yes. It was her that Morgouse had been talking about.

"Merlin?" I asked.

Hearing my fear, he said, "Don't worry. You take Morgouse while I take Morgana. It's my destiny to end her after all. And only Midnight can kill Morgouse."

"Well, that surely makes me feel a lot better," I said.

Then we charged.
