I woke up, my source of warmth was gone and for a moment I panicked because I thought it might would have been a dream and I am still at the hospital. "Calm down," The familiar voice sounded close and I got a soft gentle stroke over my head. "You're okay..." he mumbled. He embraced me, his warm hand softly rubbed my painful back. "I have some food for you..." he said, getting up. "You must be starving," he said, sitting back down on the edge to the bed. I gave a small nod. "Are you okay?" he asked, studying me. "My body is aching... but it's fine," I mumbled quietly. "Maybe you feel better after some food," he said.
"Why did you close the curtains?" I asked. "It's dark outside... it's 10 pm," he said, removing the aluminum foil from the plate. "Really?" I asked surprised. He hummed as he hold the fork in front of my mouth. I guess his gesture is sweet. I shifted a little and took the bite, making sure to hold the blanket around my chest. "How did I end up in that hospital? Why haven't they told any of us?" I asked as I swallowed my third bite. "I don't know... Lennox said there's a new member of the council that suggested it, he kept pushing and Mearing being her selfish self accepted it," he sulked.
"Oh..." I groaned, looking away. "What?" he asked, lowering his arm. "Do you have a name?" I asked. He shook his head "I think I know who this 'new' member is," I muttered. "There's just one person in the entire world that hates me more then anything else. It's a bit complicated, I need to show you... but over the last few years, I have been retrieving information. There's this organization, ex-spies, agents from the FBI and CIA but also Interpol and other organization. Over the last few years, people disappeared or were considered dead... I have a lot of connections in the under world and with people all around the globe," I said. "These missing people are forming a huge network of criminal activity. They turned their backs towards the government. I am not talking about dealing drugs, but they are killing people... important people. They are terrorist. I discovered this before you came to earth and because of that... I have a lot of enemies. My cover was blown, someone betrayed me. I also believe that these people are helping the Decepticons because they're spread all over the world. I believe my brother is killed because of this..." I said.
"These people are like ghosts, but they show up once in a while. They have tried to kill me before, they got me once and tortured me... they are after me. I am forming not only a threat to them, but also for the Decepticons," I said. He hummed "Why haven't you told me this sooner?" he asked. "I have no prove... I have tried to talk about it with Mearing and Lennox, but what can they do without prove. I got tortured and they destroyed the evidence I had. Without prove, people will deny it. I mean... there are traitors in FBI and CIA," I said, taking another bite. "Me ending up in a mental hospital is perfect for them. They make sure I can't get out..." I sighed.
"So, who's the person you have in mind?"
"... he is a former FBI agent and has a lot of connections. I don't know his motive for turning his back on the government, but he's a master at disappearing," I said. "In the end, it didn't matter if you should've left the U.S, I mean... these people are after you, they would have found again," he said. "My grandfather had a house he build himself in the mountains, close to a small town. He left it for me..." I said. Mirage gazed briefly at me but said nothing.
As I finished my dinner, he got up. Placing the plate in the table and sat on the edge of my bed again. "You said I was right," he started. I looked down at the white blanket. "Yeah... you were, about everything," I said, looking him in his eyes again.
"I will leave when this case is solved," I added quietly. "Why would you leave? It won't chase away your demons," he said. "No, but it's not your concern anymore. You're a spy and I am sure there will be someone that want to work with you," I said. "No... it's you or no one. I don't want you to leave," he stated. "I am useless, Mirage. I am a huge bother... I start losing my mind, I have to many memories that are tearing me apart... I am immortal and I have lied to you," I said.
