I woke up the next following day and got up. I looked seriously horrible. I tried my best to make it better and helped Judy in the garden. She instructed me on what to do. I knelt down, making my hands dirty with the flowers.
((Mirage's P.O.V))
I looked between the hedge, spotting Cat. She sat on her knees and was working on some flowers or something. She seemed to be fine... I guess. She sighed and sat down on the grass, fiddling with some grass. She brushed a tear off her face. I think she knows...
It made me feel even worse. It wasn't my intention. I don't know either why I did it. I broke her heart once again and why? I didn't even like it.
It just didn't feel right for some reason. I slowly walked up to her and sat behind her. "What's wrong?" I asked quietly, rubbing her arms but I knew what's wrong with her. "Nothing, I had a nightmare," she muttered. I knew she's lying.I wrapped my arms around her waist and rested my head against hers. She's so precious to me. "Don't cry... I hate to see you cry," he mumbled. She huffed and pushed me away from her. "You took me because you had compassion with me the other day, not because you wanted it..."
"Cat! No... that's not true!"
"Listen... I need you to be clear with me because obviously you're interested in someone else and you keep messing around. It hurt, Mirage! The fact is... you have Isabell now and I don't want you to play games... don't you get it?"
I stared at her for several minutes. "I don't like her..."
"I am a spy, Mirage... I spied on you, just like you've been spying on me this morning. I have seen you interact with her... why would you waste your time with me? We're friends..." She said in a whisper."And it's okay... I mean, obviously, it's your life..." she mumbled sadly. I lifted her chin so she's looking at me. "I don't want you to feel compassion or whatever. So stop treating me that way..." Her gaze hardened. "Okay?" She asked. I pressed my forehead against hers.
"In the end... our ways will separate anyway..." she said, flashing me a weak smile. "I don't want them to separate..." I murmured."It doesn't matter where I am... I think you will always remember me..." I sulked. "Don't talk like that..." I sighed and wrapped my arms around her to pull her a little closer. Her groan reminded me of the pain. "Oh, I can't wait to be free..." she mumbled, smiling a little.
I buried my face in her warm neck and our hair sat like this for a long time. Judy interrupted us, "Cat?" She hummed and freed herself and hoisted herself up. "Mirage..." Judy greeted."Can't we hang out together?" I asked. She huffed, "we will see each other soon..." she muttered before walking away. I got up as well and strode back to my alt-mode. I kept thinking about what she told me. I felt horrible and sick. I hate seeing her so broken and depressed. Back at the base, Isabell walked up to me. "What's on your mind?" She asked. I shrugged my shoulders, "nothing... nothing, I just need some time for myself," I muttered. She frowned a little and watched me walk away.
I returned towards the office where I sat down and opened the drawer of my bureau, searching through some papers till I found the photo from Cat. She's smiling, sunlight falling on her beautiful face. Her eyes blue and twinkling. I loved this photo and so glad I have this. She allowed me to have it when we first met. I sighed and sat back, staring at it. She's special and precious to me. I looked up, staring at the empty desk in front of me. I missed seeing her sitting there. The worst part, imam the case she's not sitting there anymore. Because of me, she lost her spirit...
I sighed deeply and stared back at the photo. The next few days were tough, but Ratchet informed me that she's healing well thanks to the Energon. It's a whole relief. Seeing her hurt tears me apart. I was called to the second meeting room for some reason shortly after I arrived.
"What's going on?" I asked, rubbing my head a little. "We received some really strange messages, the mafia is behind it and they're after Cat... can you explain why?" Mearing asked, crossing her arms. I closed the door behind me and sighed, thinking. I tried to remember what she had told me... that some people are infiltrators... after all, she's a hybrid which makes her very interesting for people and Decepticons. I am sure that it has spread already... the organization who captured her works for the mafia as well... it's just one big complot. They know she's dangerous but on the other hand she important..." I sulked. "What do you mean with infiltrators?" Mearing asked, her gaze hard and emotionless."Just what I am saying... corruption, they work as cops or the military, although I haven't found an infiltrator here yet..." I sulked. "Someone did a transaction with a huge amount of money towards a bank account here in the US. We can only presume that it's a Decepticon... why would they pay humans?" Lennox asked. "They're slaves... they know the mafia has connections all over the globe and it makes them powerful. They can do the dirty work for the Deceptions..." I muttered. "So, let's say... they sent someone to find Cat... what is he going to do? Take her? They can't kill her..." Lennox asked.
"Unless they want to use her for themselves... she's mentally not really stable lately..." I sulked. "You mean she's going to work for the Decepticons now?" Mearing snapped. I shook my head and paced around, "perhaps someone is going talk to her and offering her something she has always wanted... freedom. We can't give it to her..." I said-- halting."We need to get her back to the base where we can keep a close eye on her..." Lennox stated. I gave a small nod and turned around to leave and get her, but the door opened and a soldier stormed in, completely out of breath. "It's too late... They took her...."
