I had lost my consciousness but I woke up from a loud blown. "Cat!" I could hear Mirage as he stormed in and released me. "We have to go!" He grabbed my arm and dragged me with him. I hopped in his alt-mode. "Do you have a gun?" I asked. "In my dashboard. I opened it and grabbed it, but glanced at him. "Dino..." he looked at me.

"You came back for me?"
"You're my partner... of course I will always come back for you!" He stated. I smiled and locked my eyes with him. He kissed the back of my hand before speeding up. There was so much noise around us. He deactivated his holoform, "you've to tell me what's going on, Sky!" he stated. "There's not much to say, Mirage... they want me dead because I know too much," I stated. "Listen... there's something Megatron wants. Something only I know and I won't tell you because I don't want them to hurt you when I am gone. It's safe and no one will find it..." I stated. "Don't talk like that, Cat!" he snapped. "We are partners... tell me..." he insisted. "Mirage... I need you to trust me..." There was silence. I leaned over and kissed his dashboard. "Alright... but you owe me an explanation as soon as we are out of this hell!" he stated. I nodded quietly and rubbed his door. "Are you hurt?" he questioned. "Little bit..."

He couldn't reply because Decepticon cut him off and he was forced to transform. He tried to protect me. I loaded the gun and aimed it at the eyes of the Decepticon. He roared when I hit him right and DIno was able to kill him. "Nice shot!"
"I am a snipper..." I muttered. "You never told me that..." he said with a huff. I shrugged but couldn't give him a proper answer. He got attacked again.

I needed to get Cat out of here before someone managed to harm her badly. She's already covered in some blood and I don't want it to get worse. I punched the Decepticon before hooking my blade in his face and ripping it apart. I scanned my surroundings. "Cat... we are moving towards the north... okay?" There was no reaction. I turned around, seeing her lying in the grass, softly breathing. "Cat?" I transformed and strode over to her.

"Mirage!" she whispered as I knelt down, grabbing her and hold her in my arms. I lifted her shirt and took note of the deep wound. I pressed with my hand on her stomach, trying to stop the bleeding. "Ratchet!" I shouted. "Mirage..." I looked down at her again. "You promised me something... remember?" she whispered. I felt the tears fill my eyes. "Please, Cat! I can't lose you! I would be lost without you! You're my everything! I need you!" I whispered, tears rolling down my face. "Don't be sad... it's alright... it's alright," she whispered. "Let me go, Mirage."
I closed my eyes, pressing my face against her head. "Don't leave me... I- I... I have been strong for so long but realized how much I need you. Cat... I am so sorry..." I whispered. I looked into her eyes, seeing tears reflecting as well. She laid her hand on my cheek. "I like you... I have always liked you," I added softly. "There are better people in this world... this world isn't for me. I have never been good for you... I never returned the love you gave me... I know I am the last person to ask you a favor, but please let me go... help me get rid of the horrible mental pain. Let me go..."

I hold her tighter "I don't think I can..."

She pushed my hand away from her stomach. "I will always be there..." she whispered. "I will miss you so much," I whispered, brushing some blonde hair from her face. I saw a smile forming on her lips "I know..." her answer was soft and I barely heard her. "Mirage... do not grieve, just know that you have been the only one I cared about and highly respected. Thank you... for at least a year of feeling what love means, thank you for not giving up on me... f- farewell..." she stuttered the last part before I saw life fading from her eyes and she stared into nothing. Her grip on my hand loosened and one tear rolled down her face. She's gone... she's finally free of her demons and pain. I closed my eyes, pressing my head against hers, sobbing.
Soldiers and my fellows surrounded us, no one was saying anything. There was only the cold howling chilly wind. I looked down at Cat, bringing my hand to her face, and closed her eyes. I would never see those beautiful ocean blue eyes again. I would never talk to her again, I would never see her again... I would never go on a date with her again. A part in me just died with her, I wanted to scream, I wanted to scream at Primus who let this happen. "You're free now... I love you..." I whispered, pressing a kiss on her forehead. "Goodbye, my love..."

- Days later -
The rain was pouring from the sky and I was only able to look down at the beautiful brown coffin laying in front, covered with flowers. I felt numb, I felt empty and sad. I gazed at the grey tombstone, holding her name, not her real name because I knew she never would want that. I looked down at the white rose I was holding. I walked up to the coffin, laying it down on the top. "Goodbye, my precious..." I whispered, walking away. I looked down at the floor as I reached my alt-mode, leaning against the side and covered my eyes.
I hated to feel this, I hated to feel horrible pain. There's no one that can ever replace the one I love so much. I looked up as Optimus approached, leaning against my alt-mode next to me. "You're okay?" he asked as I brushed embarrassed some tears off my face. "I miss her... I miss her so much and I just can not believe she's gone... we could be together. I could have shown her what love means, but she left. She left me behind."

"You know how badly she wanted to be free. No matter what would happen in the end, she would never be fully free. She would always be stuck in a chain of memories, her past would always hunt her... I am sure that she will look down at you from above," he said, looking up to the dark sky. I followed his gaze "She will always be with you... no matter where she is..." he added before patting my shoulder and walked over to his alt-mode.

I hopped into my alt-mode, grabbing a photo I had of Cat, smiling a little. I opened my dashboard and found a white envelope. I frowned and grabbed it, opening it to find a letter inside.

To my best friend,
Thank you! I don't say it enough, but I do mean it. We didn't agree on a lot of stuff, but on one thing we do. We can't live without each other. We have had each other's back for months and I couldn't have done it without you. You know things about me no one else does, and know me better than I probably know myself. I trust you the way I trust no one else and no distance or time apart can ruin the bond we have. I love the way we go right back and no matter how long we've been apart and how easy it is to feel at home and safe with you by my side. So many love, tears, memories, fights, and dreams. We have come a long way and I am sorry you have to continue this without me... I am just glad I have met you and I am grateful to call you my 'best friend'. Thank you for showing me what love means...

Goodbye, Mirage
