I blinked a couple of times "what? How can you lose a corpse?" I snapped. "Last time I checked she was in the basement, where I left her. I don't really expect a corpse to leave!" Ratchet snapped back. I huffed insulted "no one called, why would someone steal a corpse?" Lennox asked.
"Unless she's not dead..."

The eyes were pointed on me like I had said something stupid. "She shot herself through the head, she's dead!" Ratchet mocked. "I know you feel guilt—" I cut Lennox off and got up. "Just find the damn corpse!" I sneered, leaving, and banged the door closed.

I retreated to my office and settled behind the desk, staring at Cat's empty desk in front of me. Even she had her moody moments, I did respect her and I ruined it with her. I had to live with the fact she's dead because of me.

I grabbed some files, reading them until Optimus walked in. "Are you here to yell at me?" I asked. "I don't yell at my Autobots, you know that. I am just here to talk," he said, sitting in front of me. "Have they found her corpse? I want to say goodbye," I mumbled. "I am afraid not. She disappeared. We have no idea where she could be," he said. "No video footage?" I asked.

"Nothing..."

"Do you want a new partner for in the further?" He asked. I shook my head "I'll be fine... I've always done it on my own," I muttered. "I know that this all just happened with Cat, but Mearing wants to assign a new spy," Optimus said. "I have some regimentations," he said. "I don't want a new partner!" I snapped, glaring at Optimus. "Tell Mearing I am not interested," I growled. "Unfortunately, I can not decide for the humans what to do. It's their choice to assign a new spy. It's not up to me, I can only try to help you," he said. "How? To have a look at the human's Mearing is interested in?" I snapped.

"You can choose, that's what I am trying to say. I didn't say it would be easy especially since Cat just died and body is gone," he said. "Please find her body, I take her room. I may find some information or anything interesting that can help me," I muttered. "We are working on it. It's like she vanished into nothing. You're free to take her room," he said, getting up.
I was mad they were already trying to replace Cat. I slammed my fist on my desk, burying my face in my hands and relived the last moment I had with Cat. It tore me apart, I felt horrible for hurting her so much, for causing her so much pain. If I didn't drug her, if I just talked to her about it, maybe none of this would have happened in the first place.

In the next following days, nothing changed. Cat's corpse was gone and no one knew where it was. I had even tried to locate it myself, but it was gone. Even dead, she was a master at disappearing. I gave up, her corpse was gone and this chapter is closed. Nevertheless, I kept thinking about the last few moments before she shot herself. It still hurt and I even started to have nightmares about it. It's definitely different without Cat, it's empty and for some reason, even she didn't trust me, I felt like I had no one to talk to. Of course, I have been on my own for thousands of years, but now I tasted of having a companion that's just like me, I felt empty.

Mearing had pushed me to pick someone from the list she had given me. I hated it, I didn't want another human partner. I only wanted Cat, she knew everything, she's smart and helped me with kind of everything, after a little bit of pushing. I just wished I was able to see her true self, not the moody side of her.
I shook it off and sat down in the meeting room. I need to have a talk with the fleshbags as Sunstreaker calls it, that Mearing picked. The first one, a woman walked in. In my head, I had already made a decision to not take her. I don't want another female, I want a human male. I don't want to get reminded of Cat every time.

After two hours I was done with it and had talked to several 'spies', their ages between thirty and forty. I had to choose, so picked I picked Ford Blackwell, I don't really like him, but he has a lot of experience, and just turned forty. I strode over to Mearing's office, throwing a case file of Ford on the table. "Here's your new spy! Hope you're happy!"I snapped, turning around. "He has a lot of experience. I think you picked the right one, hopefully, you're able to keep him alive," she mocked, I folded my hands into fists, but left, slamming the door closed angrily.
I strode over to Cat's old room. I left it in the same state, I hadn't found the courage to look through her stuff. Sometimes it still felt like she could walk at any moment. I shook my head and sat down on her bed, looking around. So many secrets were hidden in this room, things I probably needed to know.

The next two days were stressful, Ford started to work for me even it felt like I was working for him. He was sitting behind Cat's desk and even though I tried not to think about that, it kept popping up in my head. "Mirage, can you get that file from 2018?"
I gazed at him "Last time I checked, I was in charge..." I said. "And last time I checked, you are here on earth as a visitor." I got up, slamming my fist on the desk "I am your superior!" I hissed, glaring at Ford. With a sigh, he shoves the office chair backward and got up. "Just this once," he groused before leaving. "Damn it, Cat! This is your fault! If you didn't shoot yourself, I wouldn't have to deal with this idiot," I scowled at her.

Ford returned twenty minutes later, he had done more than just getting a file. I wasn't even going to ask. I don't care...
I caught him staring at me "What?" I snapped. "Do people take you seriously?" he asked. I frowned "Why wouldn't they?" I groused, gritting my teeth. "You look like an 18-year-old guy... do you expect them to take orders from a teen?" he asked. "Excuse me?" I snapped. "Come on Mirage... you are nothing more but a teen... you're not up to be a spy. That's the reason why your previous partner is dead," he said.

"Keep her out of this! You have no idea what happened!"I shouted before I got up. "And yes! People do take me seriously. I regret hiring a clown like you!"I sneered before I slammed the door closed.
