"I'll see you around, Otis." I smiled at him and took out my schedule to search for my second class-History. How exciting.
"Do you know where your next class is?"
"I don't know where anything is except this class and the counselor's." I laughed.
"That's room 302. It's in the building across from this one to your left. Here. I'll walk you there."
We both walked out. I was so nervous about him getting uncomfortable from everyone staring at us.
They all did. People who knew Otis smiled and winked at him as he gave them an awkward smile in return.
"So this is what you have been dealing with all morning? I'll give you props, you don't know how much I'm tempted to just run away and hide in the janitor's closet right now." He kept nervously looking around.
"Just play cool, Otis! Look straight ahead as if they're not even there and just-walk." This guy with a varsity jacket came up to us with 3 other friends of his, stopping in front of our way.
"Excuse me, where are you going, beautiful? Is he bothering you?" Pointing at Otis, grabbing his jacket. "Here, I know a better class chauffeur right here." His flirting made me want to puke.
"The only person bothering me is you, so take your herd of sheep and get out of our way. We have somewhere to be." I fixed Otis's collar as we continued to walk past them.
"Thanks for that one." Otis whispered to me.
"Who is that guy anyways?"
"That's Jack Davidson. He's on the varsity football team, a senior-oh and he absolutely hates me. He hates anyone who's smarter than he is. He and his clan roam the halls, acting like they're the shit." He rolled his eyes.
"Well, all he is is a piece of shit."
I waved Otis goodbye as we got to my history class.

Lunch time. The hour of limited freedom where I could sit anywhere, but didn't have anyone. I was trying to find Otis, but I saw no sign of him. I should have asked him where he ate lunch at so I could join him. I sat at a random table and took out a banana from my backpack. The girls who sat at the table all had the largest grins on their faces as they eagerly began to talk amongst themselves, glancing over at me multiple times in between.
"Vivienne! You go to school with us? Can we please have a picture?" One of them asked.
"Sure." They all lined up and soon enough I felt as if I were holding a meet and greet session at our table. I got up and left right after and went towards my chemistry class to see if it was empty so I could hide in there.
Mr. Anderson was teaching a full class. I forgot that there were different lunches throughout the day and those who weren't eating were in class learning.
A hall monitor was coming towards me and yelled out " Ma'am, do you have a hall pass?"
"No, this is my lunch hour." I yelled back.
"Then you shouldn't be roaming the halls young lady. Go back in the cafeteria or out in the quad area."
I nodded and speed walked into the nearest restroom and thought it was a good idea to wait in one of the stalls there until the lunch hour was over.
Otis where are you?
