Me: Hey, can I stay at your place tonight?

Nick: Why, Otis couldn't handle it?

Me: It's a long story.

Nick: See you tonight.

I grabbed my items from Otis's house and went over to Nick's. I felt like I was on the run going from house to house, but it was only temporary. Besides, Nick and I needed to bond more to progress our fake-lationship in order to start becoming public. I don't know how long Amy and the rest of them planned on having us date, or what else they had planned, but I had to listen to them. My friend was in danger.

Nick lived by himself in a gated community, which meant his house was really quiet. He showed me around his 4-bedroom wooden-floored wonderland and even cooked some dinner for us- a margarita pizza and caesar salad.

"So, what happened with Otis?"

"I told him you and I were dating, and he didn't talk to me after that. When I confronted him about it, he called me toxic. So, I told him if he really felt that way, that I was going to give him some space." I went into thought, and Nick placed his hand on mine.

"Look Vivienne, you seem to care a lot about this guy, but maybe it's time to finally keep your word and let yourself give him space. Think about it, you're a celebrity. Our lives are different than that of Otis's, or anyone's at school, and maybe Otis just doesn't understand you, or what you have to go through- also because he doesn't know." He gave me a genuine smile.

"You're right. I'll keep my word this time." I smiled back.

"So, do you want to watch a movie? I have a whole collection. Your choice."

Next to his tv, there was a giant shelf full of movies, neatly categorized by genre of film.

"You have Sleepy Hollow? No way!"

He laughed. "Of course, It's one of my favorites."

"Let's watch this one."

As we sat down and watched the opening credits, we both jumped from a noise coming from right outside, sounding like a gunshot.

"Stay down, Vivienne!" He crouched over towards the window, watching outside.

"Is there anyone out there? Can you see anything?"

"No, I'm going to go outside. Stay there."

"Wait, I'm coming with you!" I ran over. We went outside to investigate. We checked through the bushes, but nothing was there.

I heard a sudden scream from Nick, yelling "Oh my god!"

I rushed over, and saw Nick kneeling over a wounded body of a boy. Otis.
