On My Own

I couldn't go back. I couldn't. Those men will take me away and probably put me in an orphanage. And no way was I going to let that happen. I ran back into the woods I came from out of and away from the fiery scene.
Flashback
I sat at the lake, feeding the fishes and smiling as I saw they brawl over the piece of bread I threw. Today was a good day for me. Why? My dad was coming home from over in Afghanistan and he had something for me. I was way too excited to even think. As I fed the fish my last piece of bread, I heard an engine. I turned around and looked to see an old truck drive by. It was tattered, battered, and was a dull brown colour.
It was strange to see that a thing like that could still work, but I shrugged it off and turned back.
"LORDES! HE'S HERE!" I heard from a distance and I grinned from ear to ear and got up from my spot at the deck near the lake. I ran towards my house which was a couple yards away from the lake and made sure that I didn't step into any of the large ditches near our house. My mom had set them up for the transformers that were out there.
I didn't agree with her way of discovering a transformer, but I couldn't really argue because I'm a kid. So I just went along with it. As I approached the back door, I saw my dad exit out the door, in full uniform, wearing his backpack and was carrying a duffel bag.
"Daddy!" I called as I ran up to him. He chuckled softly as I hugged tightly around the neck. "Hey, little rascal!"
"You came back like you promise!" I exclaimed as I let him go and stared up into his face. I could clearly see age was starting to get to him. He was in his late 30s, but because of all the stress with the army and his part time job, it made him look older. But what got to me more was when I saw tiny grey hairs in his beard and streaks of it in his back hairs.
"I wouldn't miss my little girl's birthday for anything else." Oh, forgot to mention. My birthday is in a couple weeks and I'll be turning 9. Maybe the thing he said he had for me was my birthday gift. Who knows? "Come on, sweetie. Its getting dark."
I nodded before I entered the house with him.

"So, how was your day today?" Dad asked as I chopped on some noodles from the Chinese takeout near our house. I ate slowly before I answered him.
"It's awesome! We went on the Caverns trip today! I got to dig up some stones! I even found you and Mom zodiac stones! I'll go grab them!" I exclaimed as I quickly got up and ran up the stairs. I walked into my room and searched and searched for the stones. I furrowed my eyebrows.
Where the heck are they?
I heard yelling downstairs and knew it was my parents arguing. Mom had been really distant lately and I think it had to do with my dad being overseas. Then I remember the man she was with when I came home one day. They had been drinking wine. Could she really be..?
I jumped when I heard a crash from downstairs and screaming. I shook my head as my heart shook in fear. This was new. My parents had their usual arguments when Dad's here and not overseas. But he's never been violent. So I went to check it out. As I approached the stairs, I heard multiple heavy footsteps starting their way up the stairs.
Yeah, that definitely isn't my Dad. I rushed back to my room and quietly closed my door; locking behind me as I did.
I had to leave. I didn't know who that was or what happened to my parents, I just had to get out of there. My only option was the window. My room was on he top floor of the house, but it wasn't far from the ground. And that's exactly what I did.
-
"Where is he?" The man said as I watched from the window. I didn't recognize the man but I recognized the uniforms. They were Cemetery Wind, they hunted down the transformers and killed anyone who knew about them. My dad didn't say anything which seemed to enrage the man.
The man pulled out his gun and pointed at the back of my Dad's head. My eyes went wide as I teared up.
"Where. Is. Optimus. Prime?!" The man yelled as my Dad looked my way. He must of saw me because he smiled and winked at me. I shook my head before I heard the shot. I screamed, but quickly covered my mouth as I watched my Dad drop. I heard my mother scream before I heard the shot and I screamed again but it came out as a muffled one.
"Did anyone hear that?" Someone asked as I sobbed softly. I got up and ran towards the woods, making sure they didn't see me as I did. I took one look back at the house and saw a bright light. They had sent the house on fire. They wanted to burn any evidence of them being there.
My tears were no longer sorrowful ones, but angered ones. I was on my own now. This 8 year old was now going to end Cemetery Wind and it's organization for good. I just need help. Help from an ally. Like an Autobot.
