Condolences

"Why are you here by yourself?" The bot, who I came to know as Optimus Prime, asked as I dug through the bag for some Lays.
"I..um..don't have anywhere. I don't have a home anymore." I said simply as I pulled put a bag. I climbed up on an old pickup and sat firmly on it facing Optimus as I did.
"Why is that?"
"Cemetery Wind." I said bluntly as I saw a change in his face. He looked angry, very angry. "I see you ran into them too, huh?"
"Indeed. They..killed my friends. I sworn I would never kill humans. But their cruelty to us, after all we did to protect them, has gone on for too long." I nodded before I eat a chip.
"You and me both." Optimus glanced over at me as I eat another chip and pulled a picture from my back pocket. "This was my family."
I showed Optimus the picture of my family at a reunion barbecue. Optimus examined it closely and his optics brightened a split second.
"Your father is Nathan Aubree?"
"Yeah, how did you-" Then I remembered. My father knew! And Optimus Prime was the one my Dad was killed over! My dad knew about Optimus and he died protecting him! "You knew my father?"
"He worked for N.E.S.T. Him and my friend, Sam, revived me in Egypt a long time ago. Sadly, Sam died a couple years ago. Cemetery Wind found him with Bumblebee and he got killed. Your father did everything in his power to save Sam but only got a warning. He must have tried to protect me and Cemetery Wind found out." Optimus suggested as I nodded, tears pouring from my eyes.
"He was. He was protecting you and him and my Mom got killed for it. I watched and did nothing. I should have.." I began before I used my shirt sleeve to wipe away more tears.
"My condolences for the loss of your parents, little one." I sniffled before nodding and looking at him.
"Lordes."
"What?"
"My name is Lordes. I don't think I told you my name." Optimus nodded before I placed the photo in my boot. "I can help fix you. My mom taught me a thing or two about mechanics."
"Are you sure?" He asked as I stood up on the truck and placed a hand on my hip. "I may be 8 years old, but that doesn't mean I don't know what I'm doing."
He sent me a small smile before he transformed into the truck again. After that, he stopped talkingi. I raised an eyebrow before I waved my arms.
"Um..Optimus? Hello?" I called as I continued waving my arms.
"Yes?"
I screamed before my foot slipped off the roof of the pickup. I closed my eyes waiting for the impact. But before I got feel the impact, a hand caught me. I opened my eyes and saw a man smiling down at me.
"You should watch your step, Lordes."
"How do you know my-wait. Optimus?" I asked in shock as he nodded and pulled up on my feet. "How are you..what is..w-what?"
"It's called a holoform. I use it to blend in with the humans. And I used it because, according to my field medic and a dear friend of mine, Ratchet, when being repaired, we must go under. And I need to protect you from now on." He responded as I nodded and he stepped down from the roof. He then helped me down before I dusted myself off.
"Why me?"
"Because I made your father a promise before he left to come home to you and your mother a long time ago." Optimus said as I smiled softly and looked at his bot form. "It's getting dark. You should probably get some rest."
I nodded when he said that and he walked off, probably to find a blanket or something. I hopped into his truck and laid down on the seats. I shut my eyes quickly due to the fact I haven't slept all night last night. I couldn't get my parents out of my head. I felt something warm go over my arms and knew it was a blanket. I was going to go to work tomorrow. I needed to help Optimus so he can find his Autobots and take down Cemetery Wind.
That's if he will agree to it.
