Chapter 8

"Great, Dr. Mina, you're here earlier. There are five emergencies last night." I met up with Team A who worked for the night shift. I could saw the dark circles under their eyes. They were reporting the issues and the new patients committed last night. I heard the door opening behind me, we all look at the direction. Tzuyu, Yuri, and Sakura were on the other side of the door. They bowed and quickly found a chair to sit down. Tzuyu sat down beside me. "Alright. That's all. Now I hand over to you." They put their pagers on the table.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

The pager went off. They threw us a brittle smile and heading to the door. I pick up the pager and checked the code.

"Priority 1, "I said out loud. "Sakura. This will be your call." I handed out the pager. Sakura seemed startled but quickly took the pager and went for the office phone to check up the emergency.

"Hello, this is Team B internal medicine. What's the emergency?"

"Be right there." She hung up and turned to me. "There is a patient whose heart's rate is around 180 at room 134." I nodded. "Sakura goes to room 134 and the rest follow me checking on the patients whom issues had been listed by the Team A. After that, we will check on the patients need to get discharged."

The day was going by quicker than I think. I just finished dictating a discharge summary of a patient on the list. It was already 3 pm and we still haven't had lunch. Still, need to check on their progress. Well, they were doing well than I thought. Tzuyu was able to finish at the same time as the others. "Let's go for lunch. You all doing well today." They lightened up after hearing my compliment. We heading to the staff cafeteria.

"Why you want to be a doctor?"I asked them while waiting for our food. I eyed them and my eyes landed on Tzuyu who sat beside me.
"Well...My father is a doctor so I want to become a doctor too since I was a kid. How about you?" Tzuyu said awkwardly then eyed Yuri who sat in front of her.
"I love human body and science," Yuri said enthusiastically.
"Being a doctor, I can help others in an incredibly significant way," Sakura said earnestly.

I satisfied with their answers, flashed them a smile with approval.

"Later, I will show you the on-call room since you will be on night shift today."

"This is your on-call room. Each of you has your own room. Just right beside each other. Explore yourself. Take a rest inside. Tonight is your first on-call shift. Please do well. I will be checking on you in the morning." I gave each of them a key. I made sure Yuri and Sakura entered their room without noticing me slip into Tzuyu's room before Tzuyu closes the door. Well, I don't want them to think I'm partiality.

Tzuyu staring at me when I slipped in and closed the door behind me. She still staring at me with an expressionless face. She leaned forward and extended her hand to my direction. I backed away only to feel my back contact with the door. I breathed heavily as she was inched away from my face. She was really tall, she blocked the light but I still could see her ethereal beauty under the poor lighting. My heart was about to burst out from my chest. Click. She locked the door behind me and walked towards her bed.

I thought she was about to Kabedon. Was she doing it on purpose or was it my misapprehension?

"Tzuyu, you didn't have to lock the door. I was about to leave anyway. I just come in to tell you I wouldn't be teaching you tonight." Tzuyu sat on the bed, looked at me with puppy eyes.
"It's your first on-call shift, rest is to prepare the long journey ahead." I brushed her hair.
"Yes, Princess Mina."Tzuyu saluted playfully. I laughed at her gesticulation.
"I am going back to the common area." I patted her head then backed away, but stopped in midair as she grabbed my hand. "I gonna miss you, my princess." She kissed my knuckle and looked at me with those flirtatious eyes once again. Her eyes were my weakness. "Goodbye, Tzuyu." I hurried out the room bashfully.

There was a man in a suit standing at the door of the common area. "Sir, this room is for authorized personnel only. How can I help you?"
He turned to face me with a thin smile. "Well, I was looking for someone." He stepped closer. I didn't like it, he was a bit closer as a stranger. "However, I found her, Princess Mina. I am Prince Yuta. Nice to meet you." My mind went blank momentarily.
"Nice to meet you too, Prince Yuta." I pursued a thin smile.
"I come to fetch you to dinner." I passed by him and entered into the common area. "But I haven't finished writing the report." I sat in front of computer and clicked on my file.
"I could wait."Prince Yuta said while exploring the interior design of the room.
I just let him be while I was typing report.

I must had so immersed in my progress. I didn't realize Tzuyu was in the room until she called out my name. "Dr. Mina. Who is he?" Tzuyu alerted because the man was not wearing scrub instead a suit.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Prince Yuta." He said loftily.
"Nice to meet you too. I'm Chou Tzuyu." Tzuyu said inattentively. Her eyes wandered to me occasionally.
"Dr Mina, you knew this room is only for authorized personnel, not for public. Isn't it?" Tzuyu said sternly.
"Sorry about that, we were about to leave." I answered but still kept my eyes on the screen."
"Alright! Finished." I stood up and looked up. Why was I getting a strange vibe from them? Tzuyu seemed offended and Prince Yuta had a smug smile on his face. "Your colleague is interesting, Princess Mina." "Indeed. She is really hardworking too." I flashed a smile to Tzuyu but to my surprise she didn't even curved the corner of her mouth. "By the way, what are you looking me for?" I asked Tzuyu.
"I just came in to take a medical book. I'm bored in the room." Tzuyu went to cabinet searching the book.
"Princess Mina, let's go." Prince Yuta walked to the door.
"Tzuyu, bye. See you tomorrow." There was a dim of disappointment flashed in her eyes before she waved me goodbye with an emotionless face.

"Do you like it here?" He asked after ordered our food. We were now seating in a highly acclaimed michelin restaurant fitted with elegant décor.
"Yes. I want to come here before but always lack of time and it's hard to reserve the seat." The restaurant famous for its intricate, beautifully presented Japanese-French dishes.
"I befriended with the chef in France. He will always reserve a table for me if I called him." He said, complacent about his ability.
"Actually what's the purpose of your invitation?" I asked straight to the point.
"I had the idea of expanding business into pharmaceutical industry and Myoui family come in my first thought. I need someone who is the best at it. Myoui, the aristocratic family of doctors definitely deserve the position. I had heard that your father and you had invent a new medicine that can cure any virus. I would like to invest in you to start a pharmaceutical company and develop more medicine for the benefit of mankind."
I was surprised by his offer. "You should have told my father instead of me."
"Well, I had read your news and I wanna meet you in person. You're as pretty as the photo." He offered a cheeky grin.
I smiled awkwardly. If he knew, I had more interest in woman than man. I ignored his confession. "I will discuss your offer with my parent."
"No problem. Take your time but don't let me wait too long because indecisive is not a good trait as a doctor also a director." I smiled weakly at his words.
The food arrived in time to stop the awkwardness growing further.
"Please enjoy you meal. You two look good together." We were serving by the chef since Prince Yuta was his friend.
"We are not couple." I protested but he already walked away. Prince Yuta looked at me with a sly smile.

I survived the awkward dinner. I told my parent about the offer. We never thought of starting a company before the proposal was offered, we just want to apply for patent and looking for other companies to help us on production and sales. Father liked the idea of Prince Yuta let us develop more research on curing different diseases. "I will contact him for more details."Father concluded after our discussion. His offer was really appealing. The acceptance rate of the deal seemed to be high. I didn't know is it good or not, we will be under him and I had to deal with him more.
