Chapter 6

I awoke to the warmth of my cover and the embrace. My lids were drooping and leaden with sleep. The morning light trickled in through the curtain added an orange glow to the room and illuminated on the silhouette of Momo. My face smile upwards as my heart overfilled by the cuteness of sleeping Momo. My precious baby. I couldn't help kissing her. Momo shifted a little and flickered her eyes open. She smiled drowsily to me. "Mina, what time is it?" I sat up and reached out to grab my phone at the nightstand.

"5:30 a.m."

I turned my head around and Momo was already back to her dreamland. I kissed her on the forehead and got up from the bed. Starting my morning routine.

I came out of my bedroom and walked to the dining room. Father and mother were having breakfast at the table.

"Good morning, Father, Mother." They greeted back and I sat down next to mother. A servant served a tray consists of steamed rice, miso soup, grilled fish, tsukemono (Japanese pickles), nori (dried seasoned seaweed), kobachi (small side dishes which usually consist of vegetables), and a green salad.

"Itadakimasu(I gratefully receive the meal)."

We enjoyed the meal peacefully. Momo appeared and greeted my father and mother. I thought she will sleep till 9 a.m. She was not a morning person. She sat beside me waiting for the servant serving her breakfast.

"Gochisosamadeshita(Thank you for the meal)." Father and mother finished the meal. Mother adjusted father's tie at the genkan. I finished my meal and walked towards them.

"お父さんとお母さん頑張ってください！(Father and Mother, Good Luck!)" I hoped this time the agreement could reach.

"Minaも頑張っておいで！" They laughed appreciatively and encouraged me on my first day returned back to the position.

Momo ran out of dining room actively and grabbed my hand. Through eye contact, She acknowledged me to do it together. I showed her a knowing smile and we faced my parents. Indicating her by tapping my finger in her palm. On three, "頑張ってください！" They wreathed in smiles and imitated us. We laughed happily and waved them goodbye.

I turned back to Momo after the car drove out of the sight. I thumbed up to her. She offered me her signature scrunchy smile proudly.

I then realized something. I looked down at my watch and looked up at Momo "Momo, it's time for me to go too." She nodded and leaned in kissing me on the cheek. I smile shyly and waved her goodbye. I walked to the garage and as expected Gintoki waiting for me beside the car. Since I didn't have a driver license, he was my driver also my bodyguard.

Gintoki parked in front of the main entrance of the magnificent white building. I got down the car and walking in the main entrance. The guard at the entrance and the staff at general information counter greeted me. I smiled graciously at them and greeted the morning. I took the lift all the way up to the third floor. I turned right and walked past the library. At the end of the corridor, my destination.

I pushed open the entrance doors. The lecture room was filled with white coats and blue scrubs. White coats are my colleague and the blue scrubs are the new resident. I choose the seat at the back row and looked around my surroundings. We were attending grand rounds. It is a formal meeting at which physicians discuss the clinical case of one or more patients. Grand rounds are a part of residency training wherein new information was taught and clinical reasoning skills were enhanced.
