(Triple update: Go back to An Unlikely Team)

Aaand here's another one, I Hope it turned out okay. If you made a request and it hasn't been posted yet, it means that I'm still working on it and I'll get it done as soon as I can.

------------------------------------

Clint is a dad, so he can tell when something is bothering someone. Even if most people can’t. He’s learned that with teens, they say one thing but they mean another. And most of their problems, they’d rather not talk about. So when Peter came home from school and didn’t say anything, Clint knew something was bothering him.

Everyone else was on a mission, so Clint was playing baby-sitter. He wanted to know what was bothering his favorite nephew, but he knew Peter wouldn’t tell him. Peter would just say everything was fine and say that he was tired or had homework or something. So Clint needed something to distract the kid. To make him feel a little bit better at least.

He thinks for a moment before getting what he believes to be the best idea in the history of ideas. He gets to work, setting
everything up. It was gonna be great.

***

“Hey Pete!” Peter hears Clint yelling from the common room. “I need you to come here for a second!”

He sighs as he sets his Chemistry textbook his bed.
What could Clint need that’s so important? It’s been a rough day and Peter just wants to be alone.

When he gets to the common room, what he sees is not what he expected at all. In the middle of the floor sits a fort made of pillows and blankets, with an opening facing the TV. Two game controllers sit next to the fort, and the Mario Kart theme plays throughout the room.

Seconds later, Clint appears in the door of their fort, looking at Peter from the endless pile of blankets.

The archer gives him a serious look before picking up a controller and saying: “Join me in the blanket fort. We play until dawn.”

Peter just laughs and walks over to the hero, who is acting like a complete child. Peter doesn’t say anything as he climbs into the fort, settling in beside Clint and grabbing a controller.

“It's on old man.” Peter says.

“We’ll see bug boy.”

“I’m an arachnid. There’s a difference.” Clint rolls his eyes and they begin their game.

When Peter wins the first few rounds, he realizes that Clint is
letting him win. He’s played Mario Kart with the archer before, and he knows that he can play better than this.

“Come on Uncle Clint. You can do better than that.” Clint just laughs before upping his game, and soon the two are tied. Clint ends up winning a few times and they just keep playing. As they’re playing the last few rounds, Clint speaks up.

“You wanna talk about it?” He asks, still focused on the screen.

“Not really. Just one of those days I guess.” Clint just nods in
understanding.

“Everybody has those days, Pete. Tomorrow will be better. I promise.” Peter just nods as he focuses on the game.

“Well, Uncle Clint, my day just got better. Because I’m taking first place.” At that moment, Peter wins the game, leaving Clint defeated. Clint sits his controller down, feeling defeated.

The archer looks to the teen, a look of mock annoyance on his face.

“You cheated.” Clint says.

“I did not!”

“Yeah you did. No body can beat me at Mario Kart.”

“But I just did.” Peter says with a laugh. Clint picks up a stray pillow and gently hits the teen in the head.

“Cause you cheated.” Peter is silent for a moment before he speaks to the hero, a new seriousness in his voice.

“Thanks for this Uncle Clint. It means a lot.”

“No problem Pete. Now, I demand a rematch.”
