~Elise~
I stood in front of the large hanging wall mirror in my bedroom while my handmaids finished lacing up the corset of my glittery, sea green ballgown. Like most of my dresses, it puffed out at my waist and dropped all the way to the floor. It had long tight fitting sleeves and a low collar. My raven hair was tied back with a green ribbon and an ornate white rose clip. My face was painted with a light amount of blush and a light pink lip paint that made my skin look much paler than it really was.
"You're all ready, your highness," The maids bowed, leaving the room.
"Thank you very much," I replied politely.
There was a brief knock on the door as one of the palace guards and my personal attendant, Rose, entered the room.
"Please excuse me, princess, it's time to leave," Said Rose, tossing her strawberry hair over her shoulder," The carriage is waiting outside."
"Yes, I'm ready," I answered, following the two outside.
Rose climbed into the carriage with me and sat opposite the seat I was in, while the other guard joined the driver up front.
As we settled in for the trip, Claris appeared from her tattoo in my lap. I couldn't help but coo at my adorable fire fox weapon spirit. Unlike many spirits that took the form of people, Claris took the physical form of a bright orange furred fox cub. Since her physical form was so small, she had enough left over mana to be seen by others without sharing a mana path with me.
After a four hour ride, we arrived at our destination, the mansion of the noble Sir Izen Und Verdan of the Verdan family. He was a trusted friend of the royal family and my mothers younger brother. The party we were going to was to celebrate his oldest sons recent engagement.
As Rose followed me inside, Izen met us at the door.
"Ah, my darling princess. You're here!" He beamed, pulling me in a careful hug to avoid messing up my neatly done hair.
"It's good to see you again, uncle Izen," I smiled.
He offered me his arm and lead me to the large ballroom where a few of the other noble living or visiting the capital were already gathered.
I recognized my cousin Eliot immediately and he came over to meet us. His usually messy brown hair had been neatly pressed and he was wearing a dark blue suit similar to Izens'. Eliot was followed by a red haired girl only slightly shorted than me. She was wearing a frilly, light blue dress and had her arm linked around Eliots'.
"Hello, cousin Eliot," I curtsied," It's good to see you again, Lady Charllotte. Congratulations on your engagement."
"Thank you, your majesty. I'm honored that you'd take time from your busy scedual to join us for this celebration," Eliot bowed.
"Yes, thank you." Charllotte curtsied.
Although Charllotte looked like a young child, she was actually 20, two years older than Eliot and I who were both 18.
"Is that my princess I see?" Eliot and I looked over at the familiar tall woman approaching us. Her black hair was tied up in a tight bun and she wore a slightly revealing red dress.
"Hello, duchess Vannessa," I bowed.
"Hello again, mother," Said Eliot.
After chatting with the four of them for a few more minutes, I wandered around the ballroom exchanging pleasantries with the other nobles for another two hours. At around three o'clock I bid farewell to Izen and Eliot before Rose escorted me back to the carriage.
