Our second world- Book two: War is coming

Chapter: 42

~ Nephinae ~

"Ugh. I'm sore all over," Sylviana groaned.

"Same," Elviya added.

After an embarrassing display of the three of us getting our butts kicked by Haren earlier, he had us doing more basic exercises for two hours before we could leave. For once, I probably ate less than Haren during dinner, and Sylviana, Elviya, and I had gone to bed right after. It was only 7:30 right now, but the three of us were exhausted.

"Well, at least the baths weren't busy tonight," I said, putting on my white uniform shirt before climbing into bed.

"True. It would be awful having to do all that work and then sleeping sweaty," Sylviana replied," it's a lot of work, but I actually enjoyed today. I like the way Haren teaches. It makes me feel like I'm actually learning things."

"Me too," Elviya added," I'm glad he agreed to teach us."

"Well, unless we want to be tired tomorrow, we should get to bed," I said.

"Yeah. Good night."

"Night."

There was a brief rustling as the other two got into bed. After that, it was silent.

For the next month we went through our usual schedule with the addition of Haren teaching Elviya, Sylviana, and I on Fridays. It became our routine, and everything was pretty peaceful.

That changed on May 24.

It was Saturday and we were all in the lunch room enjoying our meal when a male teacher I'd never met before addressed the students.

In a booming voice he spoke and the chatter in the dining room fell to a hush," Thank you for your attention," he began," Due to some unavoidable circumstances, the headmistress has regrettably had to cancel the rest of today's classes," there were a mix of groans and cheers from the students. The man held up a hand to silence them," please make your way to your dorms and remain there until further notice. An instructor will be sent to inform you of the situation later. If, for some reason, this extends to tomorrow, we will have dinner sent to your dorms."

The students started gathering their things and leaving the dinning room. Elviya and I lost sight of the others on our way out.

"What do you think is going on?" I asked her as she grabbed my hand to lead me through the halls so we wouldn't get separated in the sea of bodies.

She shook her head," no idea."

When we got to the dorm, Sylviana was waiting for us. The three of us sat down on the couches in the commons.

The minutes ticked by. Haren, August, and Silver were nowhere to be seen. As the clock chimed one and still they weren't back, I was starting to think not everything was as fine as the instructors had made it out to be.

I stood up.

"Nephi? Where are you going?" Elviya asked.

"Where else? I'm going to find them," I said.

"But the teachers told us to stay in the dorms."

"And they wouldn't ignore that. Somethings going on with those three and I'm going to find out what."

"She has a point, Elvi." Sylviana silenced the brunette.

"If I don't find them I'll come right back," I said.

"Fine," Elviya sighed," just don't take too long."

"I won't."

Grabbing my familiars, I tugged on my shoes and stepped out to the hall.
