"So, why did you need to talk to me here?" Haren asked when I closed the door of the war room.

It was an office on the second floor of the base. It had a large table covered by a map of the continent. Twelve chairs sat around the table.

"Have a seat first," I said, gesturing to a chair while I sat in my own with Rose at my side," This might take a while and we're still waiting on a few people."

"I'll go find them," Rose offered.

As she stood up, the door opened and three figures walked in.

The first, sitting on my left, was Major Irvic. His black hair was combed back to reveal tired gray eyes. He looked like he just woke up. Knowing him, that was probably the case. It was likely true for the others as well. The second person was Major Nomilia. She sat next to Rose on my right with Major Taula on Harens' left.

"Everyone's here. Time to start," I stood up," I'm sure by now all of you have figured out why I called you here. According to scouts, the Mydra army has sent two forces of 250,000 men to two of our outposts on the border. One in the south, and one southwest." I paused to let the information sink in. The others were silent," Major Haren, Lieutenant Rose and myself will take the south while the three of you lead a team to the west. I'm allowing the use of one squad for each of you. Who you choose to be in those squads is up to you, but I want you leaving by morning tomorrow." I pointed out the two locations on the map," By the time our teams reach both outposts, they will have been under attack for almost a month. Exercise extreme caution and expect heavy resistance. The bases may fall before we arrive. If that is the case then your priority will be retaking it."

"What of this base? How do we know it won't be attacked while we're gone?"

"I will have contact with this location and will be able to provide immediate support through my warp ability if it is indeed attacked, but our top priority is these outposts."

"They're strategic points on our border. If they fall, we'll be left open from both sides. If Mydra can keep hold of both points, they can choke the rest of our border and we'll lose." Rose said.

"What about the western mountains?" Haren spoke for the first time since sitting down.

"What about the western mountains?" Irvic answered.

"Mydra might try a stealth mission through them to attack our relief force from behind," He explained," They take us out and there's no one left to warn this base. They take this base and they'll have almost a straight shot to the capitol."

"They wouldn't be crazy enough to do that. Those mountains only hold wyvern. They're dangerous!" Nomilia exclaimed.

"Not if you have a guide," Haren countered," It's possible and if they're smart, they'll try it."

"How are you so sure it's possible?"

"Because I did it."

"It's always good to be prepared," I said, cutting Irvic off from saying something else," Haren, if you think Mydra will try it, I'll trust you."

"I'm positive," He nodded.

"Will a single squad be enough? Or do you think we should send more?" I asked.

"I wouldn't send any less than three. Five if it doesn't spread us too thinly." He answered with a strong air of confidence.

"Then I'll send three squads. With the six that are coming with us, that leaves more than two-thirds of our forces here to guard the base."

"That should work well." Rose agreed.

"Great. It's decided. Gather your squads and leave as soon as possible. Those forts won't hold out forever."

"Yes, Ma'am!"

I quickly gathered my squad of five and moved to wait by the west gate for the others.

There were two beastmen on my squad. Both girls, and both cats; Nina and Hana. Our archer was a short blond boy, Nathan, and the last two members were sword users: Sylvie and Markis. The five of them stood silently in a line behind me. Checking the condition of their weapons while they waited.

"Hey! We're here!" I looked back to the building to see Rose running over with her squad and Haren close behind her.

I was expecting to see his usual squad, but instead found a group I didn't know. Along with the five standing behind him, a large, pure black wolf with bright golden eyes stood at Harens' left and a short brown haired girl was at his right.

"Hey, there short stuff!" I grinned at the girl.

"Sup, princess?" She smiled back as we slapped our hands together in a high-five.

"You comin' with us?" I asked when she returned to Haren's side.

"Yep!" She nodded.

"Then we have everyone?" I did a quick headcount to double check," Great! Let's move out!"

"Yes, ma'am!"
