~Artemis~

After getting lunch with Haren, I followed him out to the central garden along with August. Marylyn also joined us by the frozen well. Haren and I sat on the bench while August sat on Harens lap and Mary sat in mine.
"You're class was out early today," I said," Short lesson?"
"Yeah. What about you? I thought you were going to join me today," Haren replied, braiding a strand of hair over his shoulder.
"Well, I was going to but I slept in a little late," I blushed," So, what was your brilliantly weird lesson today?"
"Ok, first off: my lessons aren't weird, and secondly: It was a tactics exercise," He answered.
As I opened my mouth to reply, a loud clanging echoed over the yard.
Someone was ringing the alarm bell.
"Damn, wyverns again?" Haren muttered, jumping up. Pointing to Mary and I, he continued," You two go help the medics with the wounded," He ordered.
As he ran towards the west corner where wyvern fire was burning, sending up plumes of black smoke, we ran to the infirmary where many wounded soldiers had already been taken.
When we arrived in the large room, we found that the 20 or so beds had all been shoved together against the far wall to make room for the 40-ish wounded on the floor.
"Majors Artemis and Marylyn, here to assist." I said, running over to one of the medics already treating some of the wounded men and women.
"Oh, good it's you two. There are a few in the back that are in need of more advanced treatment. Someone is with them now, but their injuries are far beyond what those of us here can help. Please start there," Said the girl.
"Understood. Marylyn will help you here while I take care of them," I said, heading over to the far corner she'd pointed out.
Three men had large claw marks down their chests. Deep enough for multiple stitches while a blonde haired girl held a reddening cloth to the arm of a blue haired bird beastmen girl who was leaning against the wall.
"Major," The blonde nodded at me as I approached the three men.
"My healing spell can only partially heal these wounds so I'm gong to need thread and a clean needle, as well as a bottle of disinfectant. Can you please get some for me?" I asked.
"Of course," She turned to the girl beside her and whispered something in her ear before handing her the cloth and running into the storage closet for what I asked for.
"Enra Enra Henlr Mon: Recovery." As I chanted the healing spell, the wounds on the three men shrank and began to close, but they would all still need stitches.
When the blonde returned with the materials I had asked for, I got to work disinfecting the wounds and stitching them up. After I finished bandaging all three of them, I moved over to the blue haired girl.
Pulling the cloth away, I saw that multiple puncture marks ran down her arm from her elbow to her wrist. All at least an inch deep and several centimeters wide. I recognized the marks as wyvern bites and it looked like she had either been thrown, or a wyvern had tried to rip her arm off judging by the placement of the marks.
"Enra Enra Henlr Mon: Recovery." As the spell light faded, the size of the bite marks shrunk considerably and the girl was no-longer in danger of loosing any more blood.
"Officer Helena, right?" I turned to the blonde girl.
"Y-yes. Thank you for helping. I can finish the rest here," She replied.

"Great, I'm going to head down to the west corner to see if there are anymore wounded." I said, standing.

After checking in with the other medics, I made my way to the west side. The sound of yells, explosions, and the like getting louder as I went. A few minutes of running later and I emerged outside the inner west wall where numerous soldiers were fighting a horde of 20 or so adult copper wyverns. Some of the soldiers who were still fighting had multiple cuts and scrapes, but only a few had injuries bad enough to prevent them from fighting, or running. I headed over to them first.

There were five in total. Two purple haired bird type girls with claw marks on their backs, a man with a broken leg, and two men with fang marks on their arms.

"Enra Enra Henlr Mon: Recovery." With my spell, I lessened the degree of injury and partially stopped the bleeding before sending the five inside in the direction of the infirmary.

When they were safely out of danger, I headed over to where the soldiers where fighting and cast minor healing magic on them. After another few hours had passed, the final wyvern was slain.

"Well done everyone!" as the soldiers celebrated their small victory, I noticed Haren was staring fixatedly at something in the distance. When the hulking black mass moved a little closer, I realized, with an immense feeling of dread, what it was.
