~Silver~

As he walked across the upper walkway of the wall carrying a coil of rope to one of the battlements, he noticed movement in the snow out of the corner of his eye. When he looked closely, he recognized the green of a Mydra military uniform and ducked down under the closest battlement. hoping he hadn't been spotted. There wasn't a high probability, but they could try and fire at him if they had seen him.

There wasn't any sound from in front of the wall for a solid few minutes. He risked peaking his head over the stones to see if they had moved. The only thing to show that someone had been there were five indents in the now where soldiers had lain and footprints leading away from the wall. The soldiers were gone. For now.

He jumped down off the wall, skipping the ladder almost entirely to run down the inner side of the wall to the last place he'd seen the Major, by a tree in the yard. He wasn't there, but the colonel was.

"Excuse me, Colonel?" Silver gave him a quick salute.

"Yes?" the colonel looked up.

"Where is the Major? I have a report."

"He left me in charge. Please report to me instead." Felis replied.

"Sir! I've spotted a squad of Mydra soldiers outside the west wall." Silver waited for him to say something," Well? Should we start the plan now, or wait and see what they decide to do?"

"Start now, please." Felis said, tossing the coil of rope in his hands over his shoulder.

"Will do." Silver gave a salute before running back to his post on the wall where he'd left his rope. Relaying the order to begin the plan to every soldier he passed on his way. After a half hour, everyone was scrambling to get to their positions. Those stationed on the wall carrying thick coils of rope.

The air was thick with tension as they waited silently for any sign of movment that whould bring the comming attack.

Silver was placed near Haren on the west wall aand noticed a strange air around the man. It took Silver a moment to realize there was an excited buzz around the red head. A small smile was creeping its way onto his face and his eyes were trained ahead as his thin tail whipped around behind him. He'd gotten to know this man over the past mont, but he'd never seen this side of him before. The only way he could think to describe it was a beast crouched in wait for its prey.

Suddenly, he tensed; every muscle in his body seemed frozen in time.

"They're here." Were the words he heard before the stale silence was shattered by an ear splitting cry from below as a wave of green uniforms surged forward from the snow.

The soldiers on the wall returned the cry with an even louder one of their own as the soldiers with ropes leapt down off the wall to meet the attacking force head on. Haren and Silver among them.

When he was close enough, Silver pulled his rapier from its sheath at his hip and cut down a pair of soldiers in front of him. Haren had disapeared from sight, but Silver could hear him somewhere ahead.

Silver, along with many of the soldiers from both sides, caught only glimpses of a red blur across the battle field as the enemy was left fallen in his wake. The snow covered field now stained the same bright color as his hair.

"Amazing!" He heard a few of the surounding soldiers gasp in awe.

"His speed is amazing. Is he even human?"

As the thought entered his mind, Haren passed by him, seemingly in slow motion and Silver got the answer to his question. The reason Haren was moving so fast was because he wasn't moving through the deep snow like everyone else. With the help of a pair of leathery black wings, he was able to fly over the ground with inhuman speed and agility, but that wasn't what made the pit in Silvers stomach sink.

No. That look. A maniacle grin was plastered to his face and his eyes were a red as deep as the blood soaked snow.

This wasn't the Haren he'd come to know.

This was someone- no... something entirely different. This was a wild beast enjoying its hunt, and the Mydra soldiers were the prey.

The soldiers that attacked numbered only 2,000 and were dealt with in the span of three hours. When it was over, the soldiers who'd jumped down from the wall began scaling it again to get ready for the next wave. All but Haren who stood stone still in the middle of the now quiet field.

"Here they come!" He heard a soldier shout as another wave of green came marching through the snow. Almost double the last.

They seemed surprised to find the 2,000 soldiers sent in advance lying dead on the ground.

Haren took advantadge of their hesitation and charged forward; the soldiers on the wall following behind soon after.

The stunned Mydra soldiers recovered quickly from their daze and started fighting back, but not before Haren had cut down almost all of their front line soldiers.

Everything was going exactly as planned. The only deaths in the battle so far were of the Mydra soldiers. True, there were several injured on Croanades side, but due to the major being on the front lines of the fight, many of the Mydra soldiers weren't able to make it as far as the Croanade soldiers.

It was starting to look like they would win when Silver noticed something wrong.

It seemed like the Mydra soldiers were letting the major advance

"Major!" Silver yelled to him when he glanced the third wave approaching," pull back!"

Too late. The new arrivals had surrounded him. Completely cutting Haren off from the others.
