~Silver~

The third day of travel brought them through the thickest part of the forest. Silver walked towards the back of the three squads. He wasn't looking forward to another day of traveling over more ice covered dirt.

While they traveled, Silver noticed that it was a lot more quiet than the past few days. About half way through the day, he realized the black wolf that was August was not walking in the back like he usually was. Instead, he was up in the front with the princess.

"Weird. Don't they usually walk together?" He wondered," guess it has something to do with last night."

He slipped through the people in front of him and made his way up to where August and the princess were walking. As he got closer, he could hear them talking in low voices. Only catching some of what they said, he gathered that they were discussing at least some of what happened last night.

"Oh, hi there, Silver," the princess greeted him with a bright smile when she noticed him behind her.

"Hello major, hello princess." Silver greeted both of them.

"Silver, please, You don't need to address me like royalty."

"Sorry, I didn't think we were on a first name basis yet."

"Just try and remember for the future." She said," so, did you need something, or are you just here to say hi?"

"I was just wondering why Major Kotamine isn't walking with you."

"Nothing to be concerned with," August answered sharply.

"Well then, I will be getting back to my post. Please excuse me." He cut the princess off from saying something and dropped back to the rear again.

When they stopped for the night again, he spoke with Haren and got a few answers. With them, he found that there wouldn't be much he could do to help.

In the morning, a thick fog hung over the forest making it almost impossible for anyone to see anything. The smell of rain permeated from the dark clouds over head. They blocked the sun and cast the forest in a shadow almost as dark as night with no moon.

The sense of dread twisting in Silvers stomach grew worse and worse as the day went on. Something in the forest seemed off, but he couldn't figure out what.

A few of the others seemed to notice it too; the majors were all tense and alert. Some of the soldiers had even shifted their weapons to a ready position. The branches nearby shifted slightly.

"Get down!" As the soldiers dropped at the sudden order, a folly of arrows shot by where their heads had been.

There were shouts from the trees as soldiers in green rushed out... an ambush.

"Surrender your commanding officer or we'll kill you all." The fog was so disorientating Silver couldn't tell where the voice was coming from.

Haren suddenly spun to face something to the left; his eyes searching the fog.

"Who are you?" Elise demanded.

"Surrender." The voice seemed to echo through the trees around them. It seemed like it was coming from every direction at once," we are Mydra soldiers."

"You had the perfect set up for an ambush. Why would you waste it to warn us before your archers fired?" Haren asked.

"Oh yeah!" Silver realized," that wasn't any of ours."

"We wish to take you alive if possible." The voice answered.

"You seem to be honest about that much, but now I know you aren't mydra soldiers," Haren said," mydra soldiers never take prisoners, meaning you aren't soldiers."

"Was that all that gave it away?"

"They didn't deny it?"

"No. I was suspicious when I saw the uniforms," Haren answered," you did well, but the color is off from the real thing. It's too dark."

"Well done, Major Kotamine." A figure stepped forward and with a wave of their hand, the fog and the soldiers in green faded away.

The figure was now clearly visible. They wore a large black hood that covered most of their face and a cloak that hid their body up to their feet which were bare.

As they pulled down their hood, lime green hair tumbled down their shoulders around curved horns protruding from their forehead. Seeing their face, Silver could tell that it was a woman. What was strange about her was how bright of a green her eyes were.

The woman moved over to the princess and put her hands on her shoulders; looking her up and down.

"You cut your hair," she said after a moment.

"Yes," Elise nodded," why are you here Titanya?"

"I found something interesting to investigate," the woman smiled, her vibrantly green eyes moving over every one of the soldiers before landing on Silver. They seemed to linger on him longer than the rest.

"So, Titanya, did you find what you were looking for?" Elise asked, pulling the woman's attention back to her.

"I found you," She said.

"But are we what you were looking for?"

The woman shook her head," no, unfortunately. When I found you I got distracted and the energy I sensed is gone now."

"Um... am I the only one confused?" Asashi asked," who is this?"

"I didn't introduce myself?"

"No. You went straight to asking questions...again," the princess sighed.

"Oops. My bad." The woman turned to the soldiers and elegantly slipped into a low curtsy," my name is Titanya."

"After the cursed goddess of envy?" Aien asked.

"Correction: I am the goddess of envy." The woman grinned," the princess here is one of my chosen."

"You've gotten distracted again, Titanya." Elise said with a hint of annoyance," are you coming with us or not?"

"Oh yes, I'd love to since I've lost what I was looking for."

"Great! Thanks to you, we'll have to camp here tonight," Elise huffed, throwing her bag to the ground," camp up everyone."

The soldiers, still confused by the new arrival, slowly started putting up their tents.

Silver had his up quickly since both Aien and Aimar helped him. The three of them are faster than everyone else and were the first to sleep.
