~Haren~

"Hold your fire! They're allies!" Came a shout from atop a battlement. Following the command, the bows pointed at them were lowered and the gate was opened to let their group in. Shut promptly behind them and latched.

"Hell of a welcome," He heard Silver mutter from behind him. Haren had to agree. The moment they approached the gate, the soldiers scrambled on the wall to point bows at them from the battlements.

The soldiers in the yard muttered quietly to each other, but no one approached them. Normal circumstances would tell him that something was off, but these weren't normal circumstances. These soldiers had every right to be suspicious of them since they'd just been attacked, and from what Haren could tell, they were all low ranked soldiers.

"Where is your commanding officer?" Elise demanded loudly, her voice echoing off the stone walls.

"M-Ma'am..." A timid looking soldier stepped forward. A green band on his arm," He's not with us anymore. I was the next in rank. Are you, by chance, the reinforcements we sent for?"

The soldier looked to be in his early twenties. He was on the shorter side and had short, curly chestnut hair.

"Yes. We are," Elise answered," Can you fill us in? What happened?"

"well... as you know, Mydra soldiers attacked us about a month or so ago. We managed to hold them off for a while, but last night they attacked again and our commanding officer lost his life in the fight. I was with him during his final moments and he passed command to me. Unfortunately, I don't think myself fit for the role."

"Rose, take your squad and help with the wounded. Elise, get a head count and help with reinforcing the fort. Squad Nova will help you." Those in earshot jumped. Surprised that Haren was suddenly taking charge. He ignored the looks and turned to the boy," Colonel?"

"Felis," said the boy.

"Colonel Felis, I'm going to need all the information you have on the soldiers that attacked you as well as an inventory of every weapon at this base. Can you have it to me by tonight?" Haren asked.

"Y-yes, sir. I can have it sooner if you'd like," Felis replied with a bow. His arms crossed over his chest.

"Great. do it." He looked around to see that everyone he'd given instructions to were still standing dumbfounded," well? What are you waiting for? Get moving! We don't have all day!" He yelled.

That seemed to snap everyone out of their daze and sent them scrambling to do what he'd asked of them.

"Now... what will your next move be, Mydra?"

Lost in his thoughts, he didn't notice August next to him until he nudged Haren hard enough to knock him over. The wolf caught him before he hit the ground.

"Now's not the time to lose your head," August said," So, how are you going to deal with this?"

"Depends on how many we have. Our group has 21 and I've got a couple of plans, but about half of them need at least 400 soldiers in addition to us. If we don't have that many at least, I'll have to recalculate and come up with another option." Haren muttered. Thinking out loud to himself more than he was answering his fiances' question," weapons are another large factor as well. Along with the number of enemy soldiers. Based on the messengers' request, about 50,000 soldiers attacked. Based on the amount of time since they've attacked, they've lost quite a few to have not taken the base yet. I'd say there's about 20,000 left at most."

"Wow. It's amazing how you can get all of that with so little information." He turned to see the boy, Felis, behind him with a stack of papers in his hands," O-oh. I've got those numbers you asked for. Would you like me to show you to an office?"
