You and Sirius had chemistry, no one doubted it. Anytime one of you made a smart remark, the other would fire another one back. But, he was your best friend, there was also no doubt about that.
But you had a crush on him. Hell, you loved him. The only person who knew was your friend, Lily Evans, who you were also very close with. Any time she saw you with him, she'd send little winks and kissy faces towards you and him.
It was a quiet Saturday afternoon at Hogwarts. You and Sirius were sitting on the edge of the fountain in the courtyard doing schoolwork. Well, you were. Sirius laid on his back, looking up at the clouds.
"Oi, Sirius," you tapped him on the stomach. "What potion uses bicorn horns?"
"Like I would know. You're the brains here. I'm the charm and brawn," Sirius said with a smirk as he sat up.
You jokingly rolled your eyes. "I'll take that as a compliment. But I'm way more charming than you," you chuckled, continuing to work on your homework.
"Oh, that's so cute! You think you're more charming? Look at this face!" Sirius turned around to change his expression, and then gazed at you with a seductive look and added a wink, causing you to laugh.
"Ooh... That's ugly," you joked, playfully shoving him away from you.
"Oh, (Y/N). Sweet, innocent (Y/N). Just admit you find me absolutely irresistible," Sirius playfully put his arm around you.
You jokingly glared at him. You gave him a quick smack on the stomach, causing him to move his arm and throw his hands up in defeat.
With a grin on your face, you sat back down to continue your work.
Sirius sat down next to you, propping his elbows on his knees and resting his cheeks in his hands, looking up at you.
"You think I'm cute, right?" Sirius asked softly, not looking away from you.
You felt your heart leap, but you stayed silent.
"(Y/N)?"
"Sirius, I have to finish this essay."
A smirk grew on his face. He could see your cheeks turning red.
"Ooh, there's something you're not telling me. You do think I'm cute," he grinned.
"I do not," you mumbled, keeping your eyes glued to your page of parchment.
"I think..." he paused to snatch your quill. "You do."
You closed your eyes, trying to keep your cool. You didn't want to admit your feelings to Sirius. What if he didn't feel the same?
But what you didn't know is that he did. In fact, he loved you. You've been friends with Sirius for years. He loved you because you two were nearly the same person; you made him laugh and vice versa, you were always there for him, and you were the only one who could come up with witty comments the same way he could.
He loved you. But, just like you, he was too scared to admit it.
"Sirius, give me my quill," you demanded, standing up and holding out your hand.
"I think you're avoiding something, my dear," he grinned, also standing up.
You crossed your arms. "I think you're avoiding something too."
Sirius lifted an eyebrow as you stepped closer to him. "I think you're just madly in love with me and you're trying to get me to admit to something," you spoke slowly, trying to get a rise out of Sirius.
It seemed to be working.
"I-uh-" he stammered.
"Am I wrong?" Sirius gazed at you, his eyebrows furrowed together as he studied your face looking for an answer.
"Just admit it, Sirius," you gently grabbed onto his shirt, and pulled his face close to yours so that your lips were about to touch. He closed his eyes, waiting for you to press your lips against his.
"You love me," you whispered. He just barely felt your lips brush against his as you spoke, and his heart was racing. The corners of his mouth quirked up.
"Two can play at that game, (Y/N)," Sirius murmured. And with that, Sirius grabbed your hand, and with one swift movement, spun you around so that you were facing away from him whilst his head was on your shoulder.
"How long can you keep up that act of yours, (Y/N)? Cause I can do this all day," he whispered in your ear. You felt his hot breath against your ear, causing goosebumps to run up your arms.
You felt your knees go weak, and Sirius noticed.
"Give up?" Sirius smirked.
You were silent for a moment. Then, you spoke.
"Yup."
And with that, you quickly turned around, grabbed Sirius by his shirt collar and crashed your lips into his. His eyes were wide, but he quickly melted into the kiss. He had finally dropped your quill to wrap his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him.
"I win," he mumbled against your lips with a smirk.
"As always," you mumbled back.
