Since it's the month of February and it's also Black History Month, I wrote something that could be classified as a poem or a story-line/scenario (?). Hope you enjoy!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whip after whip
Lash after lash
and scream after scream
Nothing made him stop
No matter how much I tried to escape his grip
He ceaselessly beats and tortures me with no sign of stopping
All of a sudden I am thrown onto the cold, hard concrete floor
The sound of a belt unbuckling and a zipper being undone echoes throughout the room
Fear was leaking out of me in waves
and the tension in the air was so thick it couldn't have cut with a sword
I am flipped onto my injured back
hissing, feeling open flesh against a cold surface
The sadistic smile on his face was enough for me to know;
I may or may not make it out alive, and he was hoping for the opposite of what I was hoping
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As I look at him and our child
questions and emotions swirl around my mind like a never-ending whirlpool
"Did he plan this or was it really an 'accident'"?
"Does this mean he loves me?"
When I refocused I see him looking back at me
A whole bunch of emotions and emotions were swarming his dark blue eyes;
regret, loss, worry, anger and....love?
......Could it be?
