The low humming sound of the satellite echoed throughout the empty halls of the free floating space station. The last star had finally become dark leaving the space station to desperately try to find a new source of energy. But the being in the craft knew there was nothing left. The spacecraft still had at least a millennium before it finally went dark itself leaving nothing in the universe. The being looked out into nothing. It was nothing as far as the eye could see.

After minutes of sitting there, watching the nothing, the lonely one decided to turn off the lights from inside the satellite and experience the complete darkness of space. Hopefully it could find the on switch later. The lonely one sat, or stood -it was too dark to tell- whilst nothing passed by the window. Well at least what he assumed to be a window. It was too dark to tell.

After hours of sitting there, it decided to take a nap to pass the time. It grabbed something soft and fuzzy, which it hoped was its stuffed organism and closed his eyes. Or at least thinks it did. It was too dark to tell.

After days of looking for the on switch, it gave up looking or feeling for a switch. It already accidentally turned the switch for maximum nothing and pressed the button for danger nothing. It wasn't sure what order he pushed the buttons in, it was dark.

After weeks of sleeping or at least not thinking in the dark - it was too dark to tell if it was sleeping or not- something other than the colour of black caught its eye. It was dull, but it was something! Frantically searching for the thrusters, searching for any sort of mechanism that may advance it towards a hope, a light, a something other than the blackness. Then it woke up. Well it knew it was sleeping for weeks not. Not that it has a sense of time. It was too dark to tell.

The last thing in the universe finally gave up on any sort of entertainment or stimulation in nothing. The life support system keeping it alive had an off switch somewhere. But he needed the lights to turn on before it could turn off its own lights. Too bad it was too dark to find the kill switch.

After decades of nothing, the anti insanity field within the satellite broke down. It knew it would lose its mind in a couple hours. It took these last precious moments of sanity to search for the light switch to make the last sane decision and to end it painlessly. And then, bam. The lights went up and illuminated every nothing. Keeping its hands busy, it broke the little panel keeping the kill switch safe and slammed onto it. The lights turned different colours for a final light show before the true end. In the final moments. The last one looked out at nothing and smiled. This was the last of time, matter and everything in the nothingness. Everywhere was this and nothing was everywhere. Good bye. The satellite exploded into a beautiful array of colours. The last of everywhere flew out far into the morning.

Trillions of years later scientists were able to finally decipher cosmic background radiation. It seemed to say good bye? Meh, probably some kid messing with us and playing a prank.
