Emma's pov
I jumped the fence, more gracefully than before since I've been doing this for a while now. I found him in his room with pages of notebooks all across the floor and him in the middle of it all.
"So how's the song writing going?" I asked taking a seat next to him, careful to damage any papers.
"How does it look like its going?" He asked in a grumpy tone.
"Aww come on. It can't be that bad." I said trying to make him feel better. He raised his eye brows in response with a "I'm not amused" look.
"Ok ok. I know where you can get some inspiration. Come on get up." I said as I pulled him up. I dragged him out and we stepped into his noisy old car.
"Drive." I ordered him.
"Where?"
"Don't worry about it. I'll tell you, just drive. Just trust me." I said, waving at him to start the car.
Hesitantly he stuck the key in the ignition and tuned the car on. He turned at me again with a worried look on his face, but I just smiled back in return.
"Go right."
There was a place I found the night Cody died. I walked out of the hospital and kept walking, not paying attention to where I was going until I found myself behind the caution tapes and safety cones. This place has been under construction for a while and it doesn't seem like its going to end anytime soon.
"I don't think we should go in there." Ashton said looking around.
"I've been here thousands of times. Don't worry about it." I said ducking under the caution tape.
"There's a sign right there clearly stating that we can't go in there." He pointed at he sigh above my head. I ripped it off and threw it over my shoulder not caring where it landed. He kinda just stood there with his mouth open. I let out a frustrated sigh and turned around walking further into the construction zone.
"Wait don't leave me!" He exclaimed as he ran after me.
"We are going to be in so much trouble if someone finds us."
"This was a bad idea."
"I'm going to turn around."
"Seriously lets go back."
We walked past the heavy equipment and half finished buildings into a meadow of tall weeds and flowers. I sat down, pulling my legs to my chest waiting for Ashton to shut up and stop worrying.
"Why are you sitting down in the middle of fucking no where?" He said looking down at me. I extended my hand to point behind him. He turned around and the look on his face was indescribable.
"Whoa."
He slowly sat down, never taking his eyes of the lights of the city. We didn't talk for a while, but I didn't mind. The view was a lot to take in and the feeling it gave you was a lot to process. I looked over at him, watching him closely.
"How did you find this place?" He finally asked.
"I found it the night Cody died. The hospital is just up the road. And I've been coming ever since."
Ashton's pov
I never knew a city could look like that, especially our little boring town. Not to mention the bigger towns around, adding the beauty. The lights were sorts of different colors, flickering and moving around creating shapes and patterns and lines. And the stars were icing in the cake. I kinda just sat there not saying anything. It was funny how from far away it all seemed different and so much better. I appreciated our small little town now. I looked over at Emma and decided to ask her how she found the place.
Again her answer was to lose herself. Most of the things she did that required some kind of law broken or was questionable for her health was always to lose herself. For weeks now, I've made sure all she did was laugh and smile. She needed someone. I wasn't there for Kristen, so I made sure I was there for Emma.

"So what are you going to do about medical camp?" He asked bring up an unwanted topic.
"I still have no idea." I said softly.
"When's the deadline to sign up?"
"In a month." It seemed like a long time, but I knew that everyday would fly by and sooner or later I would have to make a choice, and that scared me.
"You have time." He said trying to be supportive and positive.
"No. Not really Irwin. I got a month to make my life altering decision." I said as I pulled out a cigarette and lit it.
"Those things could kill you."
"So I've heard." I replied.
"Do you care?"
"I can't control a lot of things in my life so I decided to control the only thing I can...living." I said hoping I didn't sound too depressing or stupid.
"Promise me something?" he said looking at me. I put of my cigarette and turned to look at him.
"What?"
"You'll stop smoking."
I scoffed. He had to be kidding me right now.
"No."
"If you don't live you can't get control of your life. If you live, you can fight to get the life you've always wanted. So promise me, you'll stop smoking."
I looked at him surprised. I considered his offer, but I wasn't convinced.
"My life is way too complicated to get control of. I don't know if I can do this on my own."
"The fight is never easy. Getting things in control is never easy, believe me. But that doesn't mean you don't try. I just means that the reward will be so much more than you imagine." He replied with pleading eyes.
He was absolutely right. Shit, I was actually going to do this.
"Fine, I promise."
"Good." He said with a smile before looking out at the lights again.
"Why do you care so much?" I asked, grumpily.
"Because I care about you. Because believe it or not I know more about you than you think. And I like you."
My eyes grew wide with shock. I was not expecting that.
"Yeah, but don't flatter yourself." He said with a smirk.
"Whatever Irwin." I nudged him. He chuckled, smiling at me.
When I got home, I threw away all the cigaarette boxes I could find. It was a new beginning and I was excited. I didn't know what to expect, but I figured I would learn along the way.
I feel like this is getting boring. I'm sorry if it is. I've been having some major writers block. Hope you like it though. Don't hesitate to comment or vote. Love you guys.
