Ashton's pov
I heard the boys knock on my door and I stood from my couch and jumped around a bit trying to lift my mood. I tried to smile as I opened the door.
"Are you READY?!" Michael screamed.
"I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready." Luke bounced around referencing Sponge bob. Seeing them so excited made me wish I could be excited too.
"Let's do this thing guys." I replied as cheerful as I could. I grabbed my stuff and made my way to the bus.
"I call the top bunk!" I screamed as I pushed Calum out of the way to get into the bus.
"HEY!" he screamed running after me. I jumped onto the top bunk and closed the curtain, marking my territory.
Calum playfully opened the curtain harshly pretending to be mad.
"I really hate you sometimes you know that." He said trying to suppress his smile. I just laughed as I pinched one of his cheeks.
I got out and decided to unpack my things when Michael came up really close to me. I waited for him to say something, but he just stood there invading my space.
"Yes, how may I help you Mr. Clifford?" I replied nudging him away.
"How's Emma doing?"
"You know this little crush has to stop." I tried to joke, but he saw right through me.
"She's a little sad, but I think she'll be fine." I nodded. I wasn't sure sure I believed myself.
"How are you doing?" he asked.
I didn't know how to answer him. It's not that I didn't know how I felt. I felt like shit. She gave up everything for me and I left. I was being selfish.
"I just don't know if I should leave."
"Are you serious?"
"I left Kristen. I don't want to leave Emma." I replied, trying to breathe.
"She's not Kristen. She'll be there when you come back." I shook my head. I lost Kristen and I wasn't about to lose Emma.
"Kristen was out of control. There was nothing you could have done. You guys had one fight and she did what she always did. She did it, Ashton. She overdosed. She drank too much. You have to stop blaming yourslef." Michael tried to reason.
I liked Kristen, but I didn't love her. Not like Emma.
"Kristen probably even put Emma in your life. You know, if you believe in that type of stuff."Michael shrugged.
Two years ago, I made the biggest mistake of my life leaving my girl friend, and I wasn't about to do it again.
I dropped everything and ran back inside to grab the keys to the car.
"What the hell? Ashton where are you going?" Michael yelled from the bus door. I turned the car and and quickly backed out of the drive way.
"Just leave without me!"
And I sped away, letting the loud motor roar over the curses Michael was probably yelling at me. My hands were shaking and my heart was racing, it's beats vibrating through my whole body, practically making me numb with fear. I didn't think through what I just did, but I had a feeling I didn't need to. I just hoped I was right.
Emma's pov
I was sitting down letting the nicotine calm my body. My hand was shaking, causing the bits at the end to fall to the ground. I watched them burn out and die on the ground and I couldn't help but feel the same way. Like I was burning out, slowly dying. I took one last drag when I heard the sound I was trying to convince myself to forget. Ashton's car raced through the parking lot, stopping right in front of me.
I let go of my cigarette, letting it fall on the floor as I made my way over to him.
"Ashton? What the hell are you doing here? You're supposed to be on your way to the other side of the fucking continent!" I screamed at him. I was so shocked I couldn't do anything but yell at him. I was trying so hard to accept the fact that he was gone and then the guy shows up out of no where.
"I'm not going anywhere." he replied pulling me in.
"What do you mean you're not going anywhere?"
"I'm not going on tour. I'm staying here with you."
He replied, pulling me in closer.
"No no Ashton," I began to argue, pulling away from him.
"No. I left someone before and she wasn't there when I came back. I can't let that happen to you."
"I am so confused right now. I can't understand anything you are saying, Irwin."
He cupped my face and connected our lips passionately and quickly as if there was not enough time in the world. He pulled apart seconds after our lips touched. I opened my eyes to see him staring at something behind me. I turned around and saw the smoke coming from the cigarette I dropped.
"We're you smoking?"
I looked own at my shoes, not sure how to answer. I couldn't lie. The box was in my back pcoket. I had done something irreversible. We both had. Or so I thought.
Ashton's pov
My heart dropped and at that point I just wanted to turn around and go back to the boys.
"So you just waited until I left to break that promise. You promised me! You probably weren't going to wait for me either. You were probably going to break that promise too!" I yelled at her. She stepped back, shocked at my outburst.
"I didn't know what else to do Ashton." she said softly, but I just shook my head.
"I gave up everything for you. You were leaving and my dad is in the hospital fighting for his life, I didn't know what to do!" she yelled back, tears running down her face.
"I should have left."
"Irwin..."
"No I trusted you. You won't be here when I come back." I interrupted her.
"I'm not going anywhere Irwin. I had a moment of weakness. What do you expect me to do? My life is a mess. You aren't making it any better. I was fine before I met you!" She yelled back.
I was numb again, but it was a painful numb.
"Fine. Then I'll just leave."
Emma's pov
He turned around and got back in the car.
"Wait. No, Ashton." I ran after him.
"I'm sorry. Please don't leave."
He didn't say anything. He turned the car on and looked at me once before driving away. I manged to lose him twice in one day.
