CIGARETTE 25

Tonight is important. Not for me directly, but it still makes me feel that nervousness in the pit of my stomach. Tonight is an important night for Michael.

He has his first art exhibition tonight in a well known art gallery in Manhattan. How did this happen? Well, apparently, Mr. Hemmings has this friend, Mr. Connor, who owns this art gallery and there was this day, when they were both in Mr. Hemmings' office. And what does Luke's dad has in his office? Yes, a canvas painted by Michael. Mr. Connor fell in love with it and talked with Michael, proposing for him to do an art exhibition.

So tonight, me and Elle are going to his exhibition and for some unknown reason, I'm feeling way too nervous for my liking.

Im standing in front of Elle's full body mirror that they has besides their desk, looking at my reflection.

"Is this appropriate for an art exhibition?" I ask Elle, who's sat on their desk, doing their makeup.

"Madi, it's just an art exhibition, not the ball." I can feel them rolling their eyes at me. Typical Elle.

"I know, but I don't wanna feel out of place. There will be important art people and stuff like that." I say, probably sounding stupid. "Furthermore, this is a very important night for Michael, I don't wanna ruin it."

"Madi." They let out a sigh, and I look to my right side, my gaze falling on them, our eyes meeting halfway. "There's nothing to be nervous of. You look stunning with that a-line mini leather skirt and black strap top. Michael will drool over you."

"Don't say that." I punch their arm lightly as a light blush creep onto my cheeks.

"Seriously, don't worry. I've been to this kind of things a lot of times, people don't care, just are just there because of the art." I just look at them, not really know how to say. I had no idea. "And don't act so surprised, I'm and an art student, my teachers invite us to this kind of things all the time."

I take a last look in the mirror and Elle appears behind me.

"Seriously Madi, you look hot as hell. Michael will pass out."

"Stop saying that." I whine, their words making me even more nervous for some reason.

"What? It's true! Michael is head over heels for you, even a blind can see. Oh and don't try to convince me that you don't like him too, because I know damn well that you do."

I frown, looking at them through the mirror.

"I know Michael for almost four years, I know him more than he knows himself. And I know you since kindergarten so you can't fool me."

"Whatever you say." This time is my turn to roll my eyes.

"Oh c'mon Madison." Elle whines, following me around as I go to the closet to grab an oversized black button shirt. "Why can't you just admit it? I can see it in your eyes when you guys are together. I'm basically the third wheel when I'm with you two." I don't answer and stop in front of the mirror once again. "If it's because you think it's too soon to move on, it's not. You need to keep living your life. We don't fall in love only once in a lifetime, Madison. We fall in and out of love all the times we need or our heart let us. And it's not a crime to fall in love again and to be happy."
