Fiona
Center City, PhiladelphiaI woke up around nine in the morning, Nolan sitting up next to me.
"I made an appointment at the doctor's office for 12:30. Wanna go get some food?" Nolan asked softly.
I nodded and changed into some comfy clothes, just leggings and a grey sweater, and waited for Nolan to get out of the shower. He walked out of the bathroom, only a towel wrapped around his waist. I don't know whether it was my heightened hormones or Nolan's sexiness but I considered just screwing breakfast and eating him instead.
We chose a little diner on Broad Street called Patty's. It was just like any classic diner, red booths, checkered flooring, and a vintage jukebox. I ordered a tall stack of pancakes, homefries, and a strawberry banana milkshake.
Nolan gave me a look of amusement after the waitress left, "What? I'm eating for two!"
——
I entered the office, multiple other expecting mothers sitting there. Most of them were already showing though.
"Hi, I'm here for a consultation with Dr. Silver. My name is Fiona," I said politely to the woman at the front desk.
"Hi, hun. Dr. Silver should be with you in just a few minutes. You can have a seat in the waiting room," She smiled, standing up with some files and walking into the back.
I nervously sat in a chair. I was positive that I was in fact pregnant, I threw up again this morning. Nolan placed his hand on my bouncing leg, giving me a quick kiss in the forehead. I leaned my head on his shoulder while we waited.
"Fiona?" I heard a female voice, the same one from the desk, call out. I stood up with Nolan's hand in mine.
"This way Mr. and Mrs. Patrick," I blushed profusely when she said that. She must have seen that Nolan's insurance was on the file since he insisted that we give them his so that my parents don't see it on mine. She took us into an exam room, instructing me to do the normal stuff, asking me routine questions. About five minutes after she left, a middle aged man walked in.
"Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick! You're pregnant!" He exclaimed, me and Nolan both blushing again.
Nolan tightly gripped my hand as Dr. Silver explained everything after the test results came back positive. I surprisingly didn't cry again. Having Nolan here this time helped a lot, he actually seemed really excited.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" Nolan asked, I playfully rolled my eyes as the doctor laughed, explaining exactly the same thing that I did last night.
The doctor left after answering our questions. The same nurse soon walked in after.
"So, uh, can we still, like, you know..."
"Yes, you can still have sex. The baby will not be harmed, for now at least. Once she's a little bit farther along it may be painful for her, though." The nurse, Chrissy I think, explained.
——
"Can we go shopping? Like for the baby?" Nolan asked, blushing a bit.
"You don't think it's too early?" I responded.
"We don't have to buy anything, I just want to look."
We drove to the nearest Target, parking, and walking in. The good thing about Nolan being an athlete is that people know his name better than his face, so we can easily walk around without being mobbed.
"I like the name Gianna," Nolan blurted out, looking at a car seat.
I laughed, "What if it's a boy?"
"It's not. I already know it's a girl," He said with confidence.
"Aw, we could call her Gia!" I cried.
I had a hard time convincing Nolan not to buy anything while we were there. It was like trying to take a lollipop from a toddler. Ironic. I knew that if he bought stuff, we ran the chance of TK or someone else seeing it and questioning it.
We headed back to the apartment, I felt exhausted and it was only four o'clock. We stopped by the store because Nolan said he wanted to make me dinner. I thought it was cute, but I know we'll probably end up getting take out.
"I think I felt her kick," Nolan said with a laughable amount of seriousness.
"You didn't."
"You don't know that."
"This baby doesn't even have a gender, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have legs," I said sassily.
"Uh oh," Nolan teased, "I'm gonna have to deal with mood swings, aren't I?"
I gave him a sarcastic smile before he laid his head back down onto my stomach. He traced circles on my skin as I ran my fingers through his hair.
"Wanna know the first thing I thought of when I saw you at that party?" Nolan asked me.
"What?"
He looked up at me, his crystal blue eyes melting my heart.
"I want her to be the mother of my children."
