"Odell! Odell!" The crowd of reporters yelled out his name in a frenzy.
Annoyed Odell moved the gatorade bottles strategically positioned in front of him to the side. Then he lazily pointed to a small man with a rat brown comb-over standing in the front, abruptly halting the media feeding frenzy. "Yea."
"How do you feel about the sudden and unexpected trade to the Browns? Will you miss New York? Are you looking forward to being in Cleveland with your old college teammate?"
"It is what it is. Just a part of the business but a tough part of the business." Odell said slowly and carefully, moving his hood back and running his fingers through his curly hair trying to choose his words wisely. "I'm getting the opportunity to play with my brother again and under my old coach. That's more than I can ask for. I've had seven great seasons in New York. My teammates are more like fam. But the Giants organization and I haven't been seeing eye to eye much lately. Maybe the Browns will be a better fit."
Odell sighed internally, knowing that was about to be a headline tomorrow.
"Odell! Odell!"
"Yea." He pointed to another man with coke bottle glasses standing in the front.
"What do you have to say about the rumors circulating about your secret wedding to Dr Cassandra Williams? The surgeon who not only created the experimental technique used to salvage your ankle but who also assisted in your surgery just five months ago? Is it true? Are you married? Why keep it a secret? And how is your relationship going to be affected by this move?"
Odell scoffed and pulled at his beard, looking down as though he were gathering the strength of God to patiently answer these questions. "What I say to that.. is that my personal life is my personal business and not up for discussion. Whether Cassandra and I are friends, more than friends, or married is between her, me, and God. No trade whether to Cleveland or all the way to the other side of the planet is going to change that relationship. And that's all I gotta say about that."
"Odell! Odell!" The frenzy began again.
"Yea." Odell pointed at another reporter this time a blonde woman with harsh features that set Odell's already edgy nerves on edge. He sighed, tired after the last string of questions fired.
"What about the recent video released of your rumored wife making several derogatory statements about professional football and in particular the Giants organization? Do you back up her statements? About the owners not caring about their players... basically hinting you're being exploited? Do you think this video factors into the trade? And does she plan to retract anything that she said in that video?"
Odell gripped the sides of the podium until his brown knuckles almost turned white and responded, "First of all, Cassandra Williams is the smartest women I know, and she never says anything she doesn't mean. So if she said it, then she meant it. And as far as her retracting anything... my wife is my wife. She is not and will not be held accountable to the public, my fans, the media or the NFL. That's my job. So no she won't be retracting anything. And as I said before I'm done speaking on my personal life. I'm here to answer questions about football. Next."
"So you're saying Dr Williams is your wife??" Another reporter interjected.
