Rose

I don't know why am I so anxious at this point.

Hindi ako nakatulog nang maayos kagabi dahil sa kakaiisip. I was wondering if Gail would accept the offer.

But before my second thought kicks in, my phone went off and Kevin's name, the driver who will pick-up Gail at their house, appears on my phone screen.

"Someone is calling me.." I uttered to my make-up artist. Tinigil muna niya ang paglagay ng blush on.

"Ma'am Rose, pasensya po sa abala.." he said on the other line as soon as I answered the call.

I rolled my eyes.

"Then this is better be important." I replied.

"Kasi po, hindi raw sasama si ma'am Gail sa party. Pinapabalik na nga niya ako dala itong mga binili niyo kahapon."

"WHAT?!" Napatayo ako sa aking upuan. I cursed when I saw that it's almost 6 PM. Dapat nakapaghanda na siya sa ganitong oras or else male-late kami sa party! I gathered my composure then sighed.

"Kausapin mo ulit, Kevin. Kumbinsihin mo siyang sumama kasi may pinag-usapan na kami kahapon." I speaked as calm as I could.

"Ma'am, ilang beses ko na po ginawa yan bago pa kita tinawagan."

"Give the phone to her." utos ko..

"Ma'am, pumasok na po siya sa bahay nil--"

"Or else I will be scanning some pending resumes on my desk for your replacement."

"O-okay, Ma'am.. P-puntahan ko muna siya ulit." he stuttered. Hinold muna niya ang call.

Ilang minuto ang dumaan ay wala pa rin sumasagot. I am slowly losing my temper.

Finally, the call was unholded then I heard Gail's voice on the other line while talking to Kevin. It was inaudible.

"H-hello ma'am Rose." Gail's soft voice lingered in my ear. Nawala agad ang inis ko.

Teka? Bakit naman ganun ang magiging impact sa akin? Ano bang nangyayari?

Weird.

"May usapan tayo." Tipid kong sabi.

"M-may nangyari kasi ngayong araw dito sa bahay namin. Hindi ko alam kung kaya ko pa mag-attend ng party." she replied with a shaky voice.

"What happened?" Did I sound concern or curious? But why did I even care to ask? I should not care about her. This is time wasting!

"Hindi na po yun importante. Isasauli ko na lang tong binili mo, ma'am Rose. Ipapadala ko sa driver mo."

"Hindi na lang din ako aattend ng party." I said making her feel guilty.

"P-po? Panu naman ang birthday ng friend mo?" she asked.

"Then whose fault is it? Hindi naman kasi ako ang umatras dito sa usapan. And of course, ready na sana ako eh.. I'm all dressed up and my make-up is almost finished. I guess I'll just cancel everything."

"Ha? P-paano na yan?" She is getting confused.

I faked a sigh making her more guilty.

"Cancelled." I muttered then hung up.

Ilang segundo ay tumawag ulit si Kevin.

Just right in time. I contained my smirk as I answered it.

"S-sige. Pupunta ako."

"Good. Then let's not waste more time." then I ended the call.

My make-up is finished. Sinipat ko ulit ang sarili ko sa full body sized mirror.
