Rose

While I am driving, I could still hear Gail's sniffs from crying though she tried to suppress it. Her day must have been very bad seeing her this upset. Dahil ba doon sa party? Or di kaya may hindi magandang nangyari sa kanila. Okay lang kaya sila ng family niya?

I was about to ask her but something came up on my mind na wag na lang muna siyang guluhin.

The low and soft music in my car is the only sound dominated as of the time when she calmed down.

Nang makarating na kami, agad na kaming bumuba sa car.

Gail roamed her eyes on the area. I can say that she is amazed dahil nakita ko kung paano kuminang ang kanyang mga mata.

I can't believe that I noticed that. Weird.

"Wow. Hindi ko po alam na may rest house kayo dito sa Uptown. Ang peaceful dito sa bundok."

I nod. "Yeah. If I feel like I want to have a peace of mind, lumalayo muna ako sa city, to have my mind settled for some time."

Dahan-dahan kaming naglakad sa  path na made of pavers leading to the entrance ng rest house.

"Magandang gabi, po." ate Rena, the care taker of this house, greeted us and the door was already open bago pa kami nakarating.

Pumasok na kami.

"Ate Rena, I need a glass of cold juice for her." Utos ko rito.

"Naku, wag na po kayong mag abala. Okay lang ako." Gail told her instead.

"Ayaw mo ng maiinom kahit water?" I asked again.

"Ahm, s-sige. Tubig na lang." sabi niya.

"Same din sakin." sabi ko.

Tumango si ate Rena at nagtungo na sa kitchen.

"You wanna see the city lights from here?" I asked Gail.

Ngumiti siya at nag-yes.

We went through the Dining area and opened the big sliding glass door on the side papunta sa Lanai. As soon as we stepped on the lanai, we can see the over looking city.

The weather is good. The night sky has millions of stars and the moon is shining brightly against the city lights.

"Wow.." she said in awe. Kumuha siya ng phone niya galing sa kanyang purse. She took a photo.

Umupo kami sa couch na nakaharap sa magandang view, we sat both ends of the couch giving an empty space between us. The light on the lanai is only soft not to distract the beautiful light we are seeing now.

"Eto na po ang tubig ninyo."

"Thank you." Gail thanked ate Rena before she left us.

We were just both sight seeing the city below us for a couple of minutes, enjoying the cold breeze of the night sky on the mountain.

"S-siguro, nag-eenjoy ka pa sa party ngayon kung hindi lang ako umeksena kanina." she broke the silence first.

"Who said that I enjoyed the party?"

"Eh bat ka pa pumunta kung hindi ka naman nag eenjoy?" pambabara niya.

Lumingon ako sa kanya.

I was about to say the reason why I insisted her to come to the party with me when I noticed that she is undeniably beautiful in her outfit and her make-up is making her face more angelic.

"Ma'am Rose?" She said.

That made me snapped back to reality when I realized that I am just staring at her.
