~1 year later~

"I don't know if I can do this, Steve." Amy began to fidget.

"Hey, I'm right here, everything's going to be fine."

Amy had been hiding from Wo Fat for about a year. After that, she decided to come out of hiding. If the man was going to come after her, let him. She was tougher now. Amy wasn't going to let one man scare her into a dark hole.

"Alright." Amy sighed and knocked on the door in front of her.

The door opened slowly to reveal Amy's mother, Hailey.

"Amy?" The woman's eyes filled with tears.

"Hi mom." Amy had tears rolling down her cheeks.

Amy's mother let out a small sob and quickly embraced her daughter.

"How?" Hailey cried. "How is this possible?"

"I had to stay in safe custody for a year or so." Amy pulled away from her mother. "But, I'm okay."

Amy's mother smiled at her daughter. Then, her eyes traveled to the man behind her.

"Who's this young man?" Hailey asked with a smile on her lips.

"Oh, mom," Amy grabbed Steve's hand and pulled him forward. "You remember Steve, right?"

"The one from the hospital?" Hailey asked.

"Yeah," Amy looked towards Steve and smiled. "We're kind of a thing."

Steve looked at Amy. "Oh, so we're a thing?" Steve chuckled. "I thought we were dating?"

Amy hit the man on his chest and heard him chuckle.

"Ignore him, mom. He's weird."

Hailey chuckled at the two.

"I thought I was adorable?" Steve cocked a brow.

"Come in you two." Hailey said.

"Oh, shut up." Amy laughed and placed a quick kiss on Steve's lips. Then, they headed inside the house.

"So, how are things?" Amy asked her mother.

Hailey smiled. "Better, now that I have my daughter back."

Amy chuckled softly.

"Darling, do you think you could help me in the kitchen with some backing?" Amy's mother asked.

"For you mom, anything." Amy smiled. She stood up and walked towards her mother's kitchen. Hailey smiled at her daughter and told Amy she'd be in the kitchen in a little bit.

Amy's mother turned to look at Steve and began to whisper.

"So, when are you going to tell her?"

"I was planning on proposing tonight. I got us a reservation at this nice restaurant." Steve smiled.

"Can I see it?" Hailey asked.

Steve peeked towards the kitchen and then reached into his pocket and pulled out a velvet box. When Steve opened it, the ring inside caught the sunlight and sparkled beautifully.

"Oh, Steve." Hailey gasped. "That's beautiful! Amy will love it!"

Steve closed the box and placed it back into his pocket.

"I'm just hoping she says yes." Steve chuckled nervously.

Amy's mother grabbed Steve's hand and squeezed it.

"She will, trust me. She loves you."

Steve smiled.

"I know."
