◇ Bill P.O.V ◇
I could feel the color drain from my face as I gripped the invitation so hard my knuckles turned white. Valerie was behind me and read it over my shoulder.
"Tell them we RSVP, together," Valerie said to Lance as she closed the door. She took my face in her hands trying to rip my eyes away from the awful invitation in front of me.
"Hey. Bill come on. You can't lose it right now. We need to plan," she said calmly as she took the invitation from my hands. I felt myself smile a bit. This was my bestfriend and I was so lucky to have her. I nodded slowly.
"Yeah. You're right. This doesn't make sense though. Why would they let him marry a human..." I started to ramble. He was the first born. The heir to the Cipher throne, not that I ever cared. But my parents forced me to marry Valerie due to family ties... what could have made them agree to him marrying Shooting Star.
"Maybe the deal makes her seem less human. More magical?" Valerie asked. That made sense, at least a hell of a lot more sense them my parents outright saying yes to him.
"That's possible. But how is the deal being controlled..." I started to rack my brain. Usually there is an exchange with our deals or a trinket that signifies it...
"THE RING!" I yelled startling Valerie as she stared at me with wide eyes.
"Before you came in to my side, shooting star was complaining about her ring burning. It must have something to do with the deal!" I could feel myself slowly getting back hope that it was a deal and that she hadn't forgotten me.
"The wedding is happening in two days, we have time to plan this out!" Valerie exclaimed as she ran into the living room grabbing a pen and paper. She sat down and started writing down things.
"Okay so what we know so far is that Mabel made a deal with Will and that we believe the key to this deal is the ring, right?" She asked as she looked up from the paper. I nodded slowly.
"Then... our mission needs to be that we get the ring off before the ceremony can be completed!" Valerie had that fire in her eyes again from when we were kids, she was truly going to give this all she has.
"Well yeah, that would be preferable. But how do we do that?" I asked and sat down next to her as she stared down at the paper, it just had notes about what we know so far. After a moment of silence Valerie jumped in excitement.
"We volunteer!" She said. I raised an eyebrow confused.
"We what?" I asked.
"I'll be the maid of honor and you be the best man! I can totally convince your parent to do it." She started to scribble on the paper again, at this point it looked like nonsense. Thinking about it though it still didn't get me alone with Mabel.
"How does that help us?" I asked trying to fit the pieces of Valerie's plan in my head.
"The maid of honor is alone with the bride the most, I can undo the deal! I'm a demon too, remember?" She smirked. A smile grew on my face. This was the happiest I had been in a while. I hugged Valerie tightly.
"Thank you..." I breathed out trying not to cry again. I had done enough crying for a lifetime. She squeezed back.
"Of course. What are best friend for?" She giggled and I released her. Quickly she went back to the paper and put a 1.
"Phase one is to get ourselves into the wedding party. Shouldn't be too hard, your his brother and your parents love me." She punched me in the arm playfully and wrote a 2.
"Phase two is to get me enough alone time to figure out how the deal was made, also breaking it should be in here," she then wrote down a 3.
"Wait, what is three? Breaking the deal should be it, right?" I asked confused. She laughed and shook her head.
"Nope. Phase three, make sure Sugar and Shooting Star live happily ever after!" She squealed as she drew hearts around the B + M she had just written. I laughed and agreed that should be how it goes... or at least I can hope.
"Alright. Let's commence phase one!" Valerie stood up quickly as she folded the piece of paper and slipped it into her boot. I stood up with her feeling a sense of determination that I had not had in forever. We walked out my door and teleported to my families house. I could already tell from the outside that it was chaotic. There were trucks outside unloading who knows what. We knocked on the door and it took longer than usual for Lance to opened.
"Master Bill, Lady Valerie what a pleasant surprise. Your mother is currently in the living room deciding on table clothes," he said as he opened the door and ushered us in. We went straight to my mother, she would be the easier one to persuade.
"Hello mother," I said getting her attention. Her head raised from the multiple fabrics on the coffee table and smiled.
"Bill, Valerie what a very pleasant surprise. I heard you RSVP'd together," she said trying to see if we were really gonna get married.
"Yup!" Valerie smiled and wrapped her arms around mine to try and sell we were a couple.
"But mother, Bill and I feel that we may be left out of the wedding party. Are we not the maid of honor and best man?" Valerie asked putting on the sad puppy dog eyes. I couldn't help but smirk at her use of calling my mom mother. It was clever. My mother looked shocked and ran over to Valerie holding her hand in her own.
"We would never. Of course you two are in the wedding party! Lance!" She called Lance over.
"Please give then the run down of everything. After all they are the maid of honor and best man!" She said smiling as Valerie gave her a hug. Lance asked us to follow him and we gladly agree. Valerie looked up at me and winked. I mouthed "great performance" with that she took a small curtis and we had to stop before we both started laughing. This was going to work... it had to.
