A/N: The Firebird will be appearing in this chapter. Sofia calls them by their real names when they're not on job. To prevent any confusion, these are the Code names and the actual names:

Nightfire- Adria

Firefly- Cress

Fader- Maia

Ace- Marcus

Haunter- Alan

Spider- Sofia (obviously)

(MacGyver POV)

The Phoenix Foundation, which was normally the definition of calm, was in complete and utter chaos.

Once Riley confirmed that Sofia did indeed have a tracking/communication device on her, Matty had instantly started spouting orders. "Secure the premises. No one gets in or out. Secure Spider as well."

And that was how MacGyver once again ended up back in the holding room.

He was currently glaring daggers at his sister, while she sat there looking rather proud of herself. He sighed "You realize that no one is able to get past me right?"

Spider's smug grin widened "You realize there's five of them and one of you right?" She retorted in a mocking tone of voice.

"But I'm your dearly beloved brother. They wouldn't hurt me right?" He asked in the same sweet mocking voice she had used.

Sofia shrugged "depends on how much of a bother you are."

 MacGyver simply rolled his eyes.

Sofia sighed, and her face softened a bit "But if you're really that worried about it, they only have one objective, which doesn't involve hurting anybody. Not unless they get in the way anyway."

Now MacGyver was curious "If they're not coming to wreck havoc at Phoenix, then why are they coming at all?"

Sofia narrowed her eyes "The Firebird never leaves their own behind."

MacGyver understood what she was saying "So they're coming to get you out."

"Exactly."

MacGyver shook his head "Attempting to break in here is suicide in itself. What makes you think they'll even get close to you."

Sofia smiled and looked up at the ceiling "Never underestimate the Firebird."

MacGyver was about to reply when a soft clattering came from the hall outside. His head snapped around towards the source of the noise. "Stay put." he growled heading for the door.

"I'm literally chained to the table Angus." She said sarcastically.

MacGyver stiffened at the sound of his name "My name's MacGyver." He said before heading out the door.

(Sofia POV)

Once Sofia was sure that Angus was gone, she knocked on the metal table four times, the Firebird's signal of all clear, and the screen over the ceiling vent shifted. Sofia looked up just in time to see a brown mass of curls and a familiar peering down at her. "Maia!"

The Dark skinned girl slipped out of the vent and landed on the table. "Good to see you too boss." She looked up and called into the vent "Cress, send it down!"

At the command, a thick rope slithered out of the vent. Fader looked at Sofia's bound wrists and pulled out a hair pin. "Now to get you out of these chains. But we have to move quick. I'm not sure how long the others can hold them."

With swift practiced movements, Maia made quick work of her shackles. "Alright, come on." She said, pulling Sofia up onto the table.

Grabbing onto the rope, Sofia began pulling herself up with Maia close on her tail. When she reached the opening, Cress hoisted her in, Sofia doing the same for Maia who then put the screen back in place.

"We have to move quickly." Cress told them, pulling her short blond curls away from her face, "Marcus, Alan, and Adria will meet us by the Entrance. The car is just around the corner. When we get out of here, run like hell okay?"

Sofia nodded from behind her "Got it."

(MacGyver POV)

MacGyver groaned in frustration as the golden skinned assassin slipped out of sight. Where could he have gone? He shook his head. No matter. Someone else would probably take him.

Wiping blood from the corner of his mouth, MacGyver made his way back to the holding room where his sister was waiting. The door was still shut. Good.

He pushed open the door, and opened his mouth to say something, but what he saw stopped any words from coming out.

 Sofia was gone.

He frantically looked around the room. He had been in the hall the whole time and had not once heard the door open. The cuffs were still on the table, but he saw that someone had opened them.

Looking around, MacGyver tried to figure out how she could have escaped. He looked up, and that's when he saw the crooked vent screen. He growled with anger when he realized where she had gone.

~***~

Matty, Jack, Cage, Riley and Mac stood huddled in the hallway.

"They just disappeared" Jack said. "One minute there they were, and the next they're gone!"

MacGyver nodded. "The same with me, to make things worse, Sofia's gone too."

 "Sofia?" Matty asked

"Spider." Cage answered.

"Spider's gone?" Matty asked "How?"

 "The vents." MacGyver told her.

"Well she may have gotten out, but I think I may have an idea of where they're going." Riley told them.

"Where?" Matty pressed urgently.

Riley turned her computer around, and it still showed Sofia's messages. "Someone just sent this message to a group chat. "It says vents, head to entrance."

"Go." Matty told them. "I'll send back up, but secure the entrance. They do not leave."

(Sofia POV)

After about ten minutes of being in the uncomfortable tight vents, they reached the panel above the space in between the entrance doors.

Sofia looked through the screen and saw the rest of the Firebird waiting for them.

Cress carefully pushed the screen out of the way and threw the rope down again. She passed the end to Maia who held it tight allowing Cress and Sofia to both exit the vents.

Once they were safely on the ground, the five on the ground formed a small circle right as Maia was about to exit the vent. She jumped down and landed safely in the arms of her comrades. They let her up and looked around.

"Seems clear." Marcus said "Let's go."

Just as they were about to exit, there was a loud click. Marcus pushed on the door. "It's locked."

Adria pushed on the other door that opened into the lobby "This one too."

Sofia frantically looked around. The vents were no longer an option. They were trapped. She turned to her comrades and narrowed her eyes "Get into position, but make no move unless I give a signal."

The Firebird drew their weapons and lined up slightly behind her.

"Well, well, well. How does it feel for the Firebirds to finally be caged?" A familiar voice asked.
