Part 27- We're Not Broken Just Bent

Two days later...

(Jack POV)

Jack, MacGyver, and the Firebird were all crowded in Sofia's Hospital room waiting to hear whether or not she'd be able to leave. While they were waiting, one of Sofia's crew, Alan decided to bring up the Elephant in the room. 

"So," He said carefully "What's going to happen to us now?" 

Jack shrugged "The deal still stands. The Ophidia are out of the question. You all get to walk out of here free." 

 Sofia nodded in approval from her bed where MacGyver sat firmly at her side. He didn't think Mac had even moved in the past two days. 

"Good." She said "Because if we couldn't, I'd kick your ass." 

Jack rolled his eyes "You can try." 

 Mac chuckled "Don't try her Jack, I've seen her kill an opponent tougher than you while half dead." 

 Adria groaned in relief "I'm just glad to be able to go home. I swear I was slowly becoming an antique in that dust pit." 

Everyone laughed at her comment, but the room quickly fell silent when the assistant nurse entered. "I'm sorry, I need to speak with the patient for a few moments so I have to ask you all to leave for the time being." She requested.

Jack put his hands up and began corralling everyone towards the door "No problem ma'am." He said. 

When they were finally out the door, Jack turned to Mac "Hey man, you holding up alright?" 

MacGyver nodded "Yeah, I'm just glad she's okay. I'm glad everyone's okay." 

"So what now?" Jack asked him. 

MacGyver shrugged "What do you mean?" 

 "Come on man, the girl saved your freaking life, don't tell me you still plan on resenting her after everything." 

 Mac shook his head "No. I don't. I'm going to try and be a brother to her, in some capacity I guess. I can't say how normal it'll be though." 

 Jack laughed and nudged his friend's shoulder "Now come on Mac, Everyone in your family is everything but normal."

(Sofia POV)

"So she's free to go home?" Adria asked with excitement. 

The Nurse nodded "Yes, just so long as she takes it easy for a while. No hard exercise or any kind of strenuous activity." 

 "Of course, I'm just glad to be going home again." Sofia replied. 

"Wait a moment, what about stairs?" Cress asked. She always was a worrier. 

"It might be best to avoid those for a week or two." The nurse answered. 

"Ugh, Cress I'll be fine." 

 "Sofia you have to go up two flights of stairs to get to your room." 

 "Then I'll just take over your room and only go up one flight of stairs." 

 "Sofie no-" 

 "Cress! I'll be fine! If King's fucking bullet couldn't kill me, I doubt a flight of stairs will." 

Cress rolled her eyes "Fine, Fine. But once you're up there you're up there for a while. Got it?" 

Sofia sighed "Ugh okay Mom." 

"Just one thing." Alan piped up. "How are we supposed to get home?" 

 "The Phoenix can take you." A new voice put in.
