Part 28- Call My Own

(MacGyver POV)

Pulling up to the Phoenix Foundation, MacGyver let himself think of how high tensions had been when they had last left this place. 

It was almost a death sentence for some of us. 

Cage reached over and squeezed his hand. "Ready to go in?" 

MacGyver nodded, it was time to put all this behind them and keep moving forward. 

Opening the car door, he stepped out into the warm summer air and began making his way towards the familiar building that he called home, Cage only steps behind him. 

Upon entering the Phoenix, he was met with Jack and Bozer who had been waiting patiently for their friends to arrive. 

"Hey man." Jack said when he saw the two. 

Mac smiled back in greeting "Hey." 

Jack threw his arm around his friend "So glad that's finally over with." He said "Phoenix 1000, Bad Guys 0." 

Mac raised an eyebrow "You've been keeping score?" 

Jack looked at MacGyver like he had three heads and nodded "Hell Yeah, I've been keeping score!" 

MacGyver simply shook his head and continued walking with Jack, Bozer, and Cage by his side. As they continued towards the War room, MacGyver thought about how lucky he was that they were all okay. And moreover, how lucky he was to have these people by his side everyday through everything. It was a wonderful feeling.

They finally reached their destination where Matty and Riley were already waiting. Taking their spots around the room, the Phoenix waited patiently for Matty to speak.

"First off, I want to congratulate you on a job well done. The Head that we brought in gave up the rest of their contacts and they have officially been shut down." She told them. 

The room broke out in applause and MacGyver nodded in satisfaction. 

"You saved the day once again Mac." Cage whispered to him, admiration shining in her eyes. 

Behind his back, he reached over and squeezed her hand. 

"And Second, I wanted to ask how our new friend is doing." 

 MacGyver smiled with regard to the question. "Sofia is fine and will hopefully fully recover soon." 

Matty nodded in satisfaction before clapping her hands together to regain their attention. "Well, I think it's time for a much needed break. You're all free to go. Except you blondie. I need a word." She said. 

"I'll wait for you outside." 

Cage told him quietly before turning to follow the others out. 

"Sit." Matty told him once they were alone. 

MacGyver did as he was told and clasped his hands together. "What's up?" He asked. 

Matty crossed her arms and stared him straight in the eye. "I'm only going to say this once." 

"Okay." MacGyver replied, confusion and anxiety laced in his response. 

"I don't mind relationships in the work place. But, whatever this is cannot interfere with your ability to do your job." 

MacGyver stared blankly at his boss "How..?" 

"Oh please Mac, I know everything." 

Cracking a smile, MacGyver stood "Am I free to go?"
